On November 1, 2021 our loving husband and father, Jonnie Dean Swenson passed away surrounded by his family. Dad was born on April 8, 1944 in American Fork, Utah to Orin Morris and Louise Tressa Barney. He was raised in Lindon, Utah and attended schools at Lindon and Pleasant Grove. Dad graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1962. Right out of high school he voluntarily joined the US Army. While stationed at Fort Hood, Texas he met his sweetheart, Cheryl Lea La Joie on a blind date. They were married in Hearne, Texas on June 27, 1964.
Dad and mom raised their two sons and three daughters in Lindon. Steve (Connie), Laura Campbell, Jeff, Jeannie Swenson and Tiffany Supreme. Dad was a hard worker, always providing for his family. He worked at Geneva Steel, Alpine County Club and most recently Cedar Hills gold course. Dad was a self taught jack of all trades, from mechanic to electrician. He loved to camp, hunt, fish and work in the yard with his sweetheart. Dad had a great love for golf and outdoors. Dad met so many great people playing golf.
Dad is survived by his wife of 57 years, their five children, 14 grand-children and 14 great grand-children. Also survived by his brother, Ron (Jill), sisters, Joyce Jolley, Linda Peterson, Sheila Chipman and sister- in-law Katy Swenson. Proceeded in death by his parents, brother (Leon), sister (Debra Jordal) and brother-in-law (Doug Peterson).
The family would like to express appreciation to Community Nursing Service Hospice for their kindness and compassion to dad. Wing Mortuary for their service. We also want to express our love and gratitude to close friends of the family Travis and Savannah McBride.
Graveside Service will be Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 1200 noon. Lehi City Cemetery 1100 North 400 East.
