Karl LaMar Moore finished his mortal race on December 20th, thirty-two days short of his 94th birthday. He was born to Clarence Lee Moore and Beatrice Young Moore on January 21, 1927 in Spring Lake, Utah during a snowstorm severe enough that the doctor could not reach the house, necessitating his seventeen-year-old sister, Vina, help with the delivery. He was the youngest of nine siblings, having four sisters and four brothers, the last living brother dying in 2004. Growing up on a large farm where there were always things to be done, Karl learned to work and serve. He was often sent to the widow's homes to deliver food and to chop wood. While working at the family's service station, it was his job to ride the horse out to the broken-down vehicles and bring them back to the service station day or night.

Karl joined the US Navy during WWII mid-way through his senior year of High School. While in the Navy he served on the USS Hamilton which had been converted into a destroyer minesweeper. The war ended while Karl was en route to Tokyo Bay. Karl continued his education, specifically fireman training while in the Navy enabling him to earn his High School Diploma. After the war he served on a tugboat/ fireboat in San Diego Harbor assisting the naval fleet returning home from war.
He returned home to Spring Lake and got a job at a milk house. He met his future wife while delivering milk to the Payson hospital kitchen where she was working. They later served together as the Stake Master Men and Golden Gleaner President and Secretary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Karl married Virginia Parker on June 22, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Karl attended mechanic school and Virginia worked for Macey's department store.

He took a job working at Tooele Army Depot as a truck driver, then in the tire shop and, eventually, becoming a mechanic supervisor. Together they moved to Lehi in 1950 and had seven children. Karl still found time to serve in many callings including as an executive secretary, counselor in a Bishopric, High Priest Group Leader, and in the Stake High Council. Karl and Virginia served a two-year mission at the Utah State Prison and volunteered for six additional years. Karl was a member of the American Legion Post 19 for over fifty years, serving in many capacities. He volunteered as a docent and on the board for the Hutchings Museum. He definitely taught his children to serve by his example.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and grandson, Wesley Harward. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, his children, Randy (Marna) Moore, Colleen Moore, Nola (Michael) Hooley, Russell (Lynette) Moore, Ronald (Liz) Ventura-Moore, Cheryl Moore, and Virginia (Jerel) Newman, 33 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and three great-great-grandchildren.
