Kathryn Santos
Tanner
Sep 23, 1945 — Sep 5, 2022
Kathryn Santos Tanner, age 76 passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5th, 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Kay was born September 23, 1945 in Beaver, Utah to Clyde and Carol Santos. She was a 1963 graduate from Mt. Whitney High School where she loved to play the clarinet in the school marching band. She married Eldon Glen Tanner on July 1, 1966, in the Los Angeles Temple.
They started their lives together in Visalia, California where Kay worked as a secretary with Edison company to support her husband through college. In 1980 they moved to Orangevale, California and would make it their home for 26 years. Kay and Eldon went on to have three children, Ryan, Jared, and Caylene.
After owning and operating a small candy business she decided to attend cosmetology school and become a hairstylist. She worked at a beauty salon for 20 years where she brought joy and beauty to her clients.
Kay truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; walking and chatting with friends, snacking on chocolate and ice cream, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to travel with her husband and one of their most memorable road trips was visiting church historical sites in Nauvoo. She enjoyed teaching the youth at church, reading her scriptures and serving in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. She was a wife, mother and later in life a loving caregiver to her husband who bravely battled cancer for 10 years.
Kay will always be remembered for her sense of humor and having the brightest smile in the room. She will dearly be missed by all who knew her.
Kay is survived by her three children, Ryan (Judi), Jared (Debbie) and Caylene (Dave). Nine grandchildren, Sydney (Eric), Lauren, Olivia, Alex, Lola, Cole, Cohen, Brody and Max. One great grandchild, Ayla.
