Kenneth Allen Calton

September 27, 1937-April 8, 2025

Kenneth Allen Calton, husband, dad, brother, and dear friend, passed away April 8, 2025 in Roosevelt, Utah, at the age of 87.

Ken was born September 27, 1937 to Joseph Allen and LaPriel Penrod Calton in American Fork, Utah.  He was the 4th of seven children and after living in the ghost town of Mercur for 5 years, his family moved and found their home in Lehi, Utah, among the fields and horses.  Ken graduated from Lehi High School in 1955, where he participated in football, basketball, and track.

Ken married Cheri Udell in 1960, and they had 3 sons who filled their lives. After their divorce, and a few years of bachelorhood, he met and married his true love and life partner, Linda Lee Underwood in 1989.  She brought her kids, Danny and Codie, into the family, and they made a long-term home in Highland. Ken worked as a painter at Hercules, and retired in 1999. He proudly served our country in the National Guard Reserves in the 1960s.

Throughout his life, Ken adored his horses, and was a part of the Rocky Mountain Rodeo Association.  He became the Team Roping Champion and rode rough stock for 7 years.  Ken team roped until he was 75 years old!  Ken will always be remembered as a great friend and patient mentor, often offering his horses and experience to new ropers.  Ken's friendship has meant the world to all of his family and his many friends.

Ken's siblings, who have all passed on before are Paul Calton, May Bateman, Sidney Calton, Eugene Calton, Vera Brooks, and Clae Calton.

Our thoughts and love are with his family, Linda Lee Calton, Kyle Calton, Tyler and Chris Calton, Matt and Terri Calton, Danny and Amber Underwood, and Codie and Tony Birdsong, along with 11 beloved grandchildren (ShayLyn, Katie, Kelsey, Taylor, Cate, Ashlyn, Ethan, Gabby, Oaklee, Greysen and Kenneth James ((KJ)) , 5 great-grandchildren (Kayden, Jack Kenneth, Audrey, Heath, and Drew)  as well as many nieces and nephews.  Many summers and holidays were celebrated with Cheryl and Mike Holmes (sister and brother-in-law), nieces Michelle, Kathy, and Jamee and many great and great-great nieces and nephews, who loved and laughed with him.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the help and care of Ken from the Staff and Doctor of Robinson Dental, the Police Officers, and EMTs all of Roosevelt, Utah. A special thanks to all the friends and family for their love, compassion, and support given during this difficult time. Thank you to Wing Mortuary, who has shown such compassion to the family and given such wonderful care of Ken.

Viewings will be held in honor of Ken on Monday, April 14 from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, April 15 from 10-11 a.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main Street, Lehi, Utah.  Services will be held at Wing Mortuary at 11 a.m. with the graveside dedication held at the Lehi City Cemetery immediately following the service.  Friend and fellow cowboy, Dan Robinson, will honor Ken's life with The Riderless Cowboy Tribute as we travel to the cemetery.
