Leland Eugene
Grace
Mar 19, 1929 — Apr 8, 2021
Leland Eugene Grace, 92, of Mount Pleasant returned to his Heavenly Father on April 8, 2021. He was the third of four children born on March 19, 1929 in Lehi to James David William Grace and Mary Louise Greenland. Leland married his sweetheart, JoAnne Smith on December 20, 1947 in Salt Lake City and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on October 7, 1961. Their 73 years of marriage is absolutely legendary, and such an example to so many. They were inseparable. Leland was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served in various callings.
Leland was a hard worker. He started working on a farm at an early age. He later secured employment with Geneva Steel, retiring after over 40 years. He took on part time construction work where he learned home building skills. Leland helped build homes for his family and friends and a cabin for him and JoAnne. He was a man of many talents. He produced the most spectacular gardens! He put his whole heart into every endeavor he had his hand in. Those great hands built many things. One of his skills and favorite hobby was crafting beautiful custom hunting rifles. Those skills again proved handy in a business venture building custom picture frames. He enjoyed all things outdoors, especially hunting and time spent with family. Fish Lake was one of his favorite places. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great great-grandfather and will truly be missed.
Leland is survived by his wife JoAnne; his children Paul (Theresa), Alan (Cathy) and Jeff. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 11 great great-grandchildren, and his sister Edna Nielsen. He is preceded in death by his daughter Jilene; his great-grandson Hayden; his brother James; his sister Elaine Allen; and his parents James and Mary.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 17, 2021 at the Lehi Cemetery 1100 North 400 East, Lehi, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wingmortuary.com .
His family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers and staff of the Gunnison Valley Home Care and Hospice for their loving care and services.
