Ligia was born in Bogota, Colombia on October 11, 1930. She was the oldest of 5 children of Emma and Pastor Segura ~ Ligia, Augusto, George, Gloria, and Lucia.

At the age of 32 she moved to New York City and then at age 40 she moved to California where she met her husband, Martin Zapata. They lived in Temecula, California until Martin passed away in 2021. After his passing she moved to Utah to be near family.

At 95 years old, Ligia lived a long and fulfilling life. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.
