Lita Ana Underwood (Lita Ann) was born July 31, 1930 in Trevelin, Chubut (a small Welsh Colony in Patagonia Argentina) to Guillermo (Bill) Underwood and Gwladys Roberts Underwood. The second of six children, Lita dedicated herself to serving and caring for her family from an early age.

In April 1949, Lita Ann moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina to accompany her younger sister Elvira who needed specialized medical treatment. At this time, Lita worked as governess for the children of a well known family in high Argentina society while pursuing her studies, eventually becoming a bilingual executive secretary. Lita and Elvira soon returned to Trevelin and were the first two members of the family to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (baptized in the Corinto River, near Trevelin).

Later on, Lita Ann returned to Buenos Aires to make preparations to move the family with her. This would allow Elvira to continue her treatment and their father Bill, who ailed with cancer, to receive better medical care. While serving as a youth leader in the Mutual Organization of the Argentine Mission, Lita met her eternal companion Miguel Angel Avila. They were married on December 12, 1958 in Buenos Aires, and later sealed by Elder Spencer W Kimball in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had a son (Daniel) in 1967 and adopted another boy (Luis) in 1978.

Lita Ann loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a powerful missionary. She taught about Joseph Smith and the Restoration and testified of the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon to countless people, many of them in taxi rides, doctor's offices and other public settings. She served as Stake Relief Society President of the Buenos Aires East Stake for more than a decade, and worked closely with the Priesthood to provide homemaking education, training and leadership to her beloved sisters in the community.

In 2007 Miguel (Lita's husband) was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and passed away. During this difficult time, her son Daniel and family invited her to spend more time with them in the United States. Lita Ann traveled several times to Salt Lake City to spend three-month periods with her children and sibling's family, also residing in Utah, but remained living in her home in Buenos Aires.

In 2015 Daniel started formal immigration proceedings for Lita Ann, and she was granted lawful permanent resident status by the U. S. Government on May 12, 2016 upon her arrival in Dallas, Texas. Lita Ann was lovingly welcome into the neighborhood and among the members of the Church. During her brief ten month stay she made dear new friends.

But above all else, she was a faithful, loving and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, and sister, literally spending her life in the service of those around her. She had a special affinity for music, drama, and singing. Loved the outdoors and recently commented how the mountains near Provo, Utah reminded her of her native Trevelin surroundings.

Lita Ann passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2017 at the American Fork Hospital due to a blood infection, with her son Daniel by her side. She is survived by sons Daniel Avila (Esther) and Luis Rodriguez (Hilda), her sister Margarita Larsen (Roy and brother Oscar Underwood (Patty); two granddaughters and a grandson; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi 30th Ward Chapel, 3180 North 300 West. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. till time of service at the chapel. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
