Lois Peterson Davis Obituary

December 3, 1929 – April 4, 2026

Lois Peterson Davis, age 96, of Lehi, Utah, passed away peacefully at her home on April 4, 2026.

Lois was born on December 3, 1929, in Lake Shore, Utah, to Herber and Estella Peterson. She was the youngest of six children and shared a particularly close bond with her sister, Maxine (Gordon). Raised on a farm in Lake Shore, Lois was a country girl growing up. She carried with her the charm, strength, and straightforward nature of her upbringing throughout her life. Lois spoke her mind and others respected her honesty and integrity.

She attended Lake Shore Elementary, Spanish Fork Junior High, and Spanish Fork High School. It was at Spanish Fork High School in their freshman year, that she met the love of her life, Kent B. Davis. Lois and Kent were an item ever since that fateful day.  She waited for Kent to complete a mission for the LDS church and were married 6 weeks after he returned on August 26, 1952, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Following their marriage, they lived in Provo, Utah; Cleveland, Ohio, while Kent attended dental school; and Abilene, Texas, during Kent's service in the Air Force. They eventually settled permanently in Lehi, Utah, where Kent opened his dental practice and where they raised their five children.  She opened her home to Navajo foster children, and a treasured foreign exchange student from Brazil, Evaristo Soares who remains a beloved member of the family.  She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones and especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

The Davis family shared many treasured experiences together, including summers at Lake Powell and family vacations to Disneyland, Bear Lake, and St. George. Holidays, particularly Christmas, and birthdays were especially important to Lois.  She took great joy in celebrating these occasions with family gathered around. The Davis home on Main Street was a gathering place for friends all day (and night) - year-round, and always welcomed their children's friends, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories Lois and Kent also hosted many Davis family reunions at their home.

Lois was extremely charitable and generous, always giving herself to others, especially her family, without expectation of anything in return.  Helping others brought her great joy.  She faithfully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, including Relief Society president and in Young Women's callings. Lois and Kent also served a fulltime mission together in Santa Rosa, California. She was a devout member of the Church throughout her life and had a deep love for the Savior. Her testimony of the gospel and her membership in the Church were very important to her. Lois also had a strong interest in genealogy.

Among her many interests, Lois loved writing and reading poetry. She was a talented writer who also created short stories and road shows.  She also loved competing with the Alpine women's golf league, and club team.  She was involved in civic organizations, and lived for her women's social clubs and book clubs

Lois is survived by her loving husband, Kent B. Davis; her children, Robert  (Connie), Ryan (Michelle), Lloyd, Lynette (Dave) , and Darin (Kim) Davis; as well as 22 grandchildren and 24 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herber and Estella Peterson; her brother, Jay; and her sisters, Vivian (Everett), Erma (Harwood), Delma (Gurr), and Maxine (Gordon), daugher's in-law Robin and Cheryl Davis , and grandson Daniel.

A public viewing will be held at Wing Mortuary, 100 E. Main Street, Lehi, Utah, on Friday, April 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Lehi 19th Ward, 150 E. 1500 N., Lehi, Utah, on Saturday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
