It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Lorie Ann Gunnell Larsen, 46, of Eagle Mountain, Utah.  She passed away on January 22, 2024, after a short battle with an infection.

Born on May 11, 1977, Lorie lived a life filled with faith, love, and happiness.  She was born in Granger, Utah to Terrell and Donna Gunnell.  She lived in Draper all of her growing-up years.  Lorie was the third sibling of four children. She was a beacon of light and love to her family from the moment she was born.  She loved to smile and laugh and play and this showed throughout her life.  Lorie was an excellent student in school and rarely got below an A- in any classes.  She was really good at math- something she would become expert at in her later with her job and occupation.  She learned to play the piano and violin at a young age, but let it lapse.  She took up the violin again  just a few months ago and amazed us all, even herself, at how well she could still play.  She was amazing!

Lorie loved playing sports.  She was on the volleyball and basketball teams in high school and earned her Varsity Letter several years in these sports.  She was very competitive and in later years this competitiveness showed even when she watched sports on TV.  She can yell at the TV just as well as any of the boys.

After Lorie graduated from Alta High School in 1995, she went to Utah Valley State College where she met the love of her life, Nathan Lee Larsen.  Nathan proposed to her on July 4, 1997. They were able to celebrate that special proposal every year by going to the Stadium of Fire, which she loved doing very much. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity on September 6, 1997. This was a day she  had been dreaming about her entire life.  She dreamed of having a large family and raising lots of children.  Even though they were not able to have children of their own, Lorie was able to touch so many young lives. She served in primary for 20+ years and she welcomed the young men and young women that Nathan served into her home as if they were her own.  She was a second mother to all these children and to her nieces and nephews.  Lorie bore her testimony often to these, her "children," through regular conversations so that they would know undoubtedly the importance of the gospel in their lives and hers.

Lorie began working for a bank shortly after marrying and worked in banking ever since.   She was always quick to learn new skills and was often asked to help out in other places.

Lorie will always be remembered for her child-like enthusiasm and playful spirit.  These qualities showed through at every encounter with her and it made every moment brighter. She loved the holidays and would decorate to the hilt.  She loved to see the excitement in other people's faces when they came to her home.  Lorie was very creative and often made up games for the whole family to play at family gatherings.  She loved Disneyland and especially Winnie-the-Pooh.   That magic was alive in her home and all who went there felt the excitement. She loved traveling with family and took many trips to Disneyland, her favorite place.

Lorie was a very happy person despite many health issues she encountered along her life.  She will be remembered for her laughter, never wavering faith, and the ability to find joy in the simplest things. Her motto for years was "Live, Laugh, Love."

She loved the Lord with all her heart and leaned on Him always. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and she bore her testimony daily to those around her by her actions and speech. In her short 46 years, she touched so many lives. We take great comfort in knowing that she is free from pain and disease. To all that were blessed enough to be in her presence she was genuinely a magnificent person.  The world will never be the same without her, but she would want you to remember her in times of happiness, laughter, and health. We rejoice in knowing we will all be with her again.

She is survived by her husband Nathan Larsen of Eagle Mountain, Her parents Terrell and Donna Gunnell, Draper Ut; Siblings, Jeff (Amber) Gunnell, Saratoga Springs, UT; Kelly (Will) Snarr, West Haven, UT; and Greg (Karen) Gunnell, South Jordan, Ut;  She is survived by Nieces: Jessica Snarr, Kayla (Tony) Johnson, Brenna Gunnell, Callie Gunnell, McKenna Gunnell, Lydia Gunnell, Kinzie Luke, Brooke Luke, Hailee (Nick) Gennaro, Jessica Burko;  Nephews:  JJ (Andrea) Gunnell, Kenneth (Karen) Snarr, Garrett Gunnell, Jayden Snarr, Matthew Snarr, Kade Metcalf, Austin Metcalf, Parker Metcalf, Caleb Metcalf, Kaleb Gunnell, Logan Gunnell, Ty Gunnell;  and many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother-in-law Judy Larsen and her beloved dog 'Rexi.'

Our family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Utah Valley Hospital who provided Lorie with the loving, comforting, and watchful care to ease her pain and suffering as much as possible.

Viewing: Friday, January 26, 2024 from 6-8pm in the Sunrise Meadows 2nd Ward building, 947 North Jack Rabbit Run, Saratoga Springs, Utah, and Saturday morning, January 27, from 9:45-10:45 am.
Services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11am at the chapel.
Lorie will be laid to rest at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Sandy, Utah.
