Loyal Douglas
Nilsson
Oct 18, 1951 — Feb 15, 2025
Loyal Douglas Nilsson, born October 18, 1951, passed away February 15, 2025 at the age of 73 at his home in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Loyal Douglas Nilsson was born in Murray, Utah to his parents Wayne Donald Nilsson and Carol Worthen Nilsson of Sandy, Utah.
Doug was the second oldest of five sons and was the last living of his brothers and parents. Doug lived in Sandy most of his life. He attended Jordan High School for his sophomore and junior years and his senior year he attended and graduated from Hillcrest High School. When he was a junior at Jordan High School he met the love of his life Renae Rasmussen. They were married for 53 years and had two sons, Brent Douglas Nilsson and Clay Donald Nilsson.
Doug was a Meat Cutter for Albertsons & Associated Foods for 33 years. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Sandy City. He met a lot of really nice men at the Fire Station, and had one fireman (Steve Demas) build his home in Saratoga Springs.
After retiring from cutting meat he began helping his son start a business called Lake Mountain Tree Movers. Doug was also president of the Rocky Mountain Mule Association in 2006 where they would plan different trails to go ride mules on. He had many pistols and a nice collection of SAKO Long Rifles. He loved the outdoors where he would go hunting for lions, bears, and bobcats with his pack of black and tan Hound dogs. He enjoyed doing that with his two sons more than life itself and got them loving it just as much as he did. He had black and tan Hound dogs almost all of his married life, and we know he's in heaven with his awesome dog named Crank.
Doug is survived by his wife Renae Rasmussen Nilsson of 53 years, sons; Brent (Heidi) Nilsson and Clay Donald Nilsson, two grandchildren; Wyatt (Harley) Nilsson and Haylee (Jake) Hooper, and one great-granddaughter; Hannah Mae Nilsson.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Carol and his brothers Michael, Steven, Kyle, Donnie Nilsson.
