Lurae Smith Ault passed away at the age of 92 on December 15, 2022.  She was born December 13, 1930, in the Smith family home in Lehi, Utah.  She was the oldest child of Victor Webb and Wanda Deon Carter Smith.

She attended schools in Lehi and graduated from Lehi High School and LDS seminary in 1949. She met the love of her life, Howard Ault, when the Cedar Fort Boys got off the bus to attend junior high.  They were inseparable after that.  They were sealed for eternity on August 3, 1949, in the Logan Temple.  She has missed him every day since he passed away on December 30, 2015.  They are now reunited and are happy to be in each other's arms dancing to their favorite songs.

As they started their life together, they worked hard with each other. They didn't have much, but they had each other.  They slowly started to buy property and started to farm.  Lurae worked right alongside Howard, and on most days after Howard had worked another job, they were together on the farm -- Lurae driving the tractor pulling the combine with Howard in it.

Shortly after they were married, a group of friends got together and took dance lessons.  That started a legacy of "The Group."  "The Group" became lifelong friends who got together every month for almost 70 years. Those friendships along with the friendships of their families continue today.

They were blessed with five children:  Peggy, Steven, Sherie, Janice and Brent.  Lurae has always been a hard worker, and she instilled a great work ethic in her children and grandchildren.  There wasn't much that Lurae couldn't do. If she didn't know how to do it, she would experiment until she figured out the best way to do it.

She was active in her church and community. She was an excellent cook.  She made the best pies and taught many people how to make them. She decorated many beautiful cakes, including all of her children's wedding cakes.  She could sew and taught many youth in 4-H everything from sewing and cooking to entomology and leatherwork.  She was a leader in the 4-H for many years and was a sought-after judge for many competitions.  She was the director for the Make it with Wool Contest for many years.  She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Stake Relief Society President for 13 years.

She loved to serve and was a great example of Christlike service.  No one was a stranger in their house, and no one ever left their house empty handed.  She had a big heart and everyone loved her. They had many exchange students in their house from all over the world. Ricardo and Ruben Albores were two of their favorite exchange students. The Albores family from Mexico have continued to be a part of the Ault family.

One of her favorite things to do was to travel. They traveled all over the world, but one of their favorite places to visit was Mexico.  They eventually bought a second home in Kino Bay, Mexico, and loved serving the people there.  They have done many quiet acts of service and have had a big impact on the little town of Kino Bay.

Family was everything to her.  She loved to have family get togethers, plan trips, and travel together.  We have many special memories because of her getting us together.

Lurae had a perfect childlike faith that never wavered.  She knew her Savior and taught her family to love and serve Him through her example.  She leaves a beautiful legacy for her family to follow.  We have no doubt that our Savior has welcomed her into His arms, and she has reunited with many family members whom she was longing to see. Lurae will be missed by all, but we are confident and find peace knowing she and Howard are back together working hard and serving others.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Peggy, (Kim) Fisher, Steven (Connie) Ault, Sherie (Jeff) Warner, Janice (Rande) Pace and Brent (Tami) Ault; many foster children from all over the world; 29 adoring, loving grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren, and 9 great, great-grandchildren; Brothers and Sisters: Ronald Smith, Furlann Olsen, Craig Smith and Vicki (Ken) Whittemore.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Uvonna Varney; a grandson, Justin Fisher; great grandchildren: Afton Fisher, Joseph McMillan and Presley Ault.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Mahogany Stake Center, 1548 North 900 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah.  A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 20, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the stake center and Wednesday, 9:30-10:30 AM, prior to the service. Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery.
