Marilyn was the daughter of Carl Prince Beaty and Verlie Irene Hannah born on October 4th, 1942 in Paul's Valley Oklahoma. She graduated from Atwater High School in 1960 and attended Modesto Junior College until 1962 when she married.

Marilyn married Robert Preston Sorenson on May 5, 1962 in Winton California and remained together the rest of their lives celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary in 2019, the year Robert passed away. Marilyn's main focus outside of her family was her devotion and service as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Converting in 1968 she lived a Christ centered life serving as the president of the Relief Society, the Young Women's Organization, and Primary.

Marilyn was a loving grandmother and after retirement she moved to Boise Idaho and then to Lehi Utah to be closer to children and grandkids.
