Our dear beloved son, brother, father, grandpa and friend was called home to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

He was born June 11, 1959 in Dubuque, Iowa to Elizabeth Gail Gruemmer and William Elmer Stotlar, Mark being the oldest of seven children including Lisa Gail Stotlar Maypa (Al Maypa), Tracy Lynne Stotlar Robinson (Larry Robinson), Shelli Rae Stotlar Alvey (Robert Alvey), Timothy Shawn Stotlar, Misha Dawn Stotlar, James 'Jimmy' Kyle Stotlar, and he had 4 other half siblings Dennis Stotlar, Randy Ray Stotlar, Julie Stotlar, and Laura Ann Stotlar Bagby.

Mark was a man who liked the simple things in life and he deeply loved his family and later in life he came to love the Lord and tried to repent from the rough life he lived that he referred to as the "Dark Side of Society" when he was young.

From a booklet "A Study in Christ" that he wrote for his children, he wrote: "It is not always easy to know when we have taken a wrong road. Sometimes, unlike when we are driving a car, it is years before we see that the path was wrong. Take heart, Feel confidence, and experience the joy of knowing the Lord has given us a way back…. He waits for us. He will shepherd us back to the road…."

"He is always waiting with arms wide open…"

"Choose to be ready. You can begin to be great now, at home, at school, at work, and wherever you go. People will feel that greatness and they will know that you have chosen the Lord…."

"There are glorious promises that await us in the life that follows our earthly probation. But, let us not forget the glories and promises that attend us here and now. Run, don't be weary. Mount up with wings as eagles, soar with the Savior. He will carry us where we cannot walk alone."

From his testimony:

"I know that I was chosen to live in this time and to be in the places that I have been. I was led to Utah just so that I could find the Church and then have the opportunity to prove to the Savior which side I was on. The trip has been long and I have tripped and stumbled much along the way. I have left the path and climbed among the boulders and obstacles along the side….

I know that the Savior loves me. I know that He and the Father knew what would happen to all of us when we came to live on the earth and out of their presence. He knew we would fall and that we would need a partner to help us earn and find our way back.

I know that Jesus is that partner… He also accepted our pains and sufferings. He can make us whole and heal us both…."

"I know with unparalleled certainty that HE LIVES. He died and has risen and because of that we will rise again too…"

Mark grew up in Iowa, Wisconsin, California, and later resided as an adult in Wyoming prior to moving to Utah, he also spent a time in Brazil.

He loved working with his hands and that would follow him his whole life, he learned when he was a young boy to dismantle things around his home like his toys, lamps, alarm clocks & radios never to put them together again. He went on to graduate from Buena Park High School (Buena Park, CA) in 1977. Later in life he would go on to attend Champion Automotive School in Santa Ana, CA then Fullerton Community in Fullerton, CA in Automotive Ignition Theory and Basic Automotive Theory. He would later attend Utah Valley Community College (now Utah Valley University) and landed on the Dean's list with a GPA of 3.96 GPA majoring in Machine Tool Technology and minor in Computer Science and earning his A.S.S degree in May of 1992. He also enrolled in the Bachelors program for Business Management.

He would go on to use his education and training in Automotive technology, CNC Training, Computer Technology and Construction, painting & maintenance trades and Business Management throughout his life in various businesses over the years including his own business Markus and Sons in Home repair and painting and SwitchPoint Networks/AirSwitch of Orem, Utah.

He often used his handyman skills to help others, often without pay, he was always willing to help someone in need.

Some of his interests & passions throughout his life besides his family and his faith were organizing the Scottish Festival in Payson, Utah, he loved organizing social activities to gather with the Single Adults from the Church as well as his family, he also enjoyed playing paintball with friends and family. He loved sharing what he called his "Stupid stories" with his kids, and photography, he liked the outdoors and the beauties of the world and often used them as models for his photography skills. He liked creating with his hands and would rather create gifts than buy them.

He met his wife Amy Lynn Young Stotlar at a Singles activity through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints at a class that he had organized called "How not to marry a jerk or jerkette". They married a few months later in April of 2013.

He leaves behind his wife Amy and her five children from a previous marriage, Matthew Clayton Abraham, Kattie Ann Abraham, Jacob Dylan Abraham, Joshua James Abraham, Kenzie Rose Abraham, and the two young children they had together Milgre Bella Stotlar & Brigham Markus Stotlar.

Mark also leaves behind nine adult children from a previous marriage and 36 grandchildren and one great grandson that called him papa Mark. Shane LaVoy Stotlar (Star Stotlar), Rachel Marie Stotlar Edmunds (Bryce Edmunds), Marci Ann Stotlar Jermain (Jake Jermain), Sonny Jacob Stotlar (Murissa Stotlar), Joseph Marion Stotlar (Katie Stotlar), Sharla Mae Stotlar Chamberlain (Daniel Chamberlain), Randi Sue Stotlar Elswood (Brendon Elswood), Krissa Amberleen Stotlar Sudweeks (Kyler Sudweeks), Nellie Pearl Stotlar Draper (Skylar Draper).

He was preceded in death by his sisters Misha Dawn Stotlar, Tracy Lynne Stotlar Robinson, a brother James 'Jimmy' Kyle Stotlar, his half-sister Laura Ann Stotlar Bagby, and his parents William Elmer & Elizabeth Gail Stotlar.

In the small booklet that he wrote "A Study in Christ!" he ended with this "I would say that this is "The End", but it is not, it is really just "The Beginning""…..

Public viewing will be held Tuesday evening September 28, 2021 from 6 - 8 pm at Wing Mortuary 118 E Main, Lehi, Ut

Viewing to be held prior to services Sept 29, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 am with Services at 11 am at the Pilgrim's Landing 1st ward building 3145 W Mayflower Ave, Lehi, Utah. Interment to follow services at Lehi Cemetery.
