Martha Ann
Hodnett Loftin
Apr 24, 1949 — Mar 8, 2022
Martha Ann (Hodnett) Loftin was born on April 24, 1949 in Modesto, California to Hallie Jean (Kenner) Hodnett and Kenneth George Hodnett. She was the oldest of 7 children, raised in Modesto, California, and graduated from Downey High School in 1967.
Gary Wayne Loftin saw Martha working in the ticket booth at the local movie theater. He thought she was an angel and just had to meet her. The rest is history and they were married July 28, 1968 in Modesto, California. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1975. They raised 6 children in Hughson, California where they were active in their community and church.
Martha had a deep love for her family, especially for her grandchildren. She enjoyed family vacations and snuggling with the grandbabies. She also enjoyed crafting and jewelry making with her sisters, daughters and granddaughters. Martha spent her life serving others through church service and leadership with the young women and relief society of Turlock, Hughson and Ceres wards in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as serving family, neighbors and friends.
Martha passed away on March 8, 2022 at home with family. She is undoubtedly having a joyful reunion with loved ones - her mother Hallie, her father Ken and her sister Nancy Lynn who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Gary Loftin, her children; Michele (Rick) Manning, Eric (Chantel) Loftin, Deanne (Bill) Coles, Nathan (Melissa) Loftin, Ryan (Andrea) Loftin, Kent Loftin, 20 grandchildren and her siblings; Richard (Darla) Hodnett, Karen (Kim) Cornelius, Gary Hodnett, Janet (Don) Foret, and Steve (Diane) Hodnett. She is genuinely loved and will be deeply missed until we meet again.
