Mary Street Erickson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and extraordinary friend passed away on September 4, 2026.

She was born on July 18, 1932 to Pearl and Henry Street of Alpine Utah. She was the fourth of six children. Mary was born in the family home and was delivered by her grandmother, Martha Wilkin, who was the midwife.

She spent her teenage years in Alpine and married Lester Newman in 1947. They started their family in Alpine. They moved to East Millcreek (Salt Lake City) Utah. They welcomed four children, Leslie, Bob, Kathy and Steven. They later divorced.

After her divorce she went back to school and earned her high school diploma with an emphasis in accounting at Granite High School. She went to work for Litton Industries and later became one of the first employees at Evans and Sutherland. She was a line supervisor for many years and later became a department head. She worked there until her retirement.

While working at Evans and Southerland, Mary found the love of her life, Douglas V. Erickson. They were married on June 17, 1972 and later sealed in the Timpanogos Temple on May 9, 2026. This union brought her two step-sons, Brad and Brian.

They maintained their home in East Millcreek for around 40 years. Mary and Doug developed a love for travel and started spending winters in Bullhead City, Arizona. Their time in Bullhead City brought great joy and developed their golf games, bowling scores, and lifelong friendships. She worked in the pro-shop. She served in several roles on the Activities Committee both as lead and team member for many years in Bullhead City. They also traveled Canada, the western United States, and Mexico with a small group of their resort friends.

When life circumstances made it evident that they needed a safer and more supportive single level home they moved to Spring Gardens (formerly Covington) in Lehi Utah. She lived her remaining years in Lehi as a loved resident.

Mary adored dancing, music and could always be found serving others throughout every phase of her life. Mary made many friends wherever she worked and lived.

Mary always remembered her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren at Christmas, birthdays, special life celebrations and she loved her darling family dearly.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her son Robert (Bob) Newman, granddaughter Brooke LaChance, grandsons Waylon Blackburn and Justin Jones and great-grandson Alex Blackburn.

She is survived by her husband Douglas V. Erickson, her daughters Leslie (Bob) LaChance, Bob’s wife (Carin) Newman, Kathy Lundy, and sons Steven (Stephanie) Newman, Brad Erickson and Brian (Angie) Erickson. Grandchildren Troy (Debbie) LaChance, Lisa (Tyler) Munson, Chris LaChance, Lindsay Jones, Jessica Newman-Clawson, Angie Blackburn, Stephen (Deanna) Lundy, Alison (Kent) Bradshaw, MacKenzie (Ed) Anderson, Hailee (Seth) Newman, Daniel Newman, Tierney (Mark) Triolo, Anthony (Viviana) Erickson, Tiffany (Chris) Whala, Todd (Lara) Erickson, Troy (Bridget) Erickson and many, many great and great-great grandchildren.

Doug and the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Renew Hospice Care providers and the entire staff at Spring Gardens (Covington) Senior Living Center for their loving care of sweet Mary.

A viewing will be held in honor of Mary Street Erickson on Tuesday Sept. 8, 2026 at Wing Mortuary in Lehi, Utah from 6:30-8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday Sept 9, 2026 at 11:00 am with viewing beginning at 10 am at Wing Mortuary:118 E Main Street Lehi UT 84043
