Maurine Beck, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
Maurine was born on October 30, 1938, to Jesse James Leavitt and Phoebe Violet Reeves. She was the fifth of six children: Carol, Sandra, Arden, Margaret, Maurine, and Jay. Throughout her life, Maurine remained close to her siblings, cherishing time spent together, playing cards and games, enjoying lunches, and simply being in each other's company.
She met Jerry B. Beck while attending school in Lehi. They were married on November 4, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they were blessed with six children: Keri, Kristy, Blake, Jamie, Marci, and Wendi. Family was always Maurine's greatest joy. She made birthdays special and created cherished holiday traditions that continue today. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Maurine was a devoted stay-at-home mother for many years, often taking on extra jobs to help support her family. She worked at mink ranches during the fall, took on sewing projects, and could make a dollar stretch. Later, she worked as a lunch lady at Meadow Elementary, Snow Springs Elementary, Lehi Junior High, and Lehi High School. She loved interacting with the students, especially when her grandchildren came through the lunch line and always reminding them, "Grandma loves you."
A lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ, Maurine served faithfully in many church callings, including teaching and leadership roles in all the auxiliaries. She was a dedicated ministering sister, visiting others regularly with love and care. Maurine served in the Mount Timpanogos Temple for nine years, where she formed lasting friendships and treasured the spiritual experiences she had there.
Maurine had a passion for travel and visited many places around the world, forming friendships she deeply valued. She was a talented seamstress, creating beautiful blessing dresses for many of her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She was always ready to mend clothing, help with a Halloween costume or tie a quilt. She crocheted many baby blankets for family and friends, painted ceramic figurines, and enjoyed reading.
Maurine is survived by her six children and their spouses: Keri (Val) Carter, Kristy (Mike) Christensen, Blake (Karen) Beck, Jamie (Jim) Winn, Marci (JR) Smith, and Wendi (James) Klein, 16 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Sandra Carter, Margaret Price, and Jay Leavitt, brother-in-law Michael (Jan) Beck, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She is now reunited with her husband Jerry Beck, granddaughter Amy Christensen Foster, her parents, sisters, and many more loved ones on the other side of the veil. We find comfort in knowing she is joyfully embracing them once again.
