Obituary

Michael James Howell, loving husband, brother, father, son, and papa passed away at his home in Lehi, Utah on June 25, 2024, at the age of 49.

Mike was born on June 17, 1975, in Murray, Utah. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Hope Howell, their sons Riley and Payton Howell, grandchildren Makenna, Nevaeh and Orion, siblings Laura Miller, Brooke Foster, Craig Howell and Samantha Leiter as well as his parents, siblings-in-law, several precious nieces and nephews and far too many beloved family and friends to name.

Mike and his wife Hope were married July 22, 2000, in the beautiful mountains of Santa Cruz, California surrounded by family and friends. They shared many wonderful years together creating memories with family and friends. He looked forward to his travels to Mexico with Hope where they would spend time with her father, Jim Porter.

It could be said that Mike was a true outdoorsman and he took great joy in passing down his knowledge to all of the kids in the family. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, the ocean and boating, along with a good old country song. One of Mike's proudest achievements outside of his family was in the fall of 2021 when he nailed a fourteen-point big bull elk while hunting.

Over the years, Mike took immense pride in a job well done and it showed whether it was on a construction job or doing a home-improvement project. He was the guy who knew how to do just about anything and who others could count on for help and advice.

He was truly the heart of his family, extended family, and many dear friends who Mike made feel like family. If you were loved by Mike Howell, you knew it. It didn't take long for his sense of humor, rascally quick wit, big smile, and ocean blue eyes to find their way into your heart.

Mike was a rock to some, a mentor to some, and a friend and confidant to many. He will be missed in ways that could never be put into words. His legacy of love will live on in all who were touched by him.
