Obituary

On Sunday August 15, 2021, Mick Allred, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

Mick was born on October 5, 1942 in Lehi, Utah to Tuff and Jetta Allred. Mick spent his younger years on a farm in Lehi and later moved down into town. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army National Guard 1457th Engineers. He served in the guard for six years.

Mick had a passion for racing motorcycles. He bought his first motorcycle at the age of 13. After high school, he was the president of the Bee's Motorcycle Club and was known for winning almost every race he entered. Mick treasured the collection of 100+ trophies he won during his racing years and loved to share the stories of his glory days with his grandkids including his famous climb of Widowmaker.

Mick apprenticed at an upholstery shop in his early twenties. Across the street from the upholstery shop was a hair salon where a beautiful blonde worked, who caught his eye. Mick married Ruthann Thomas on September 7, 1968. Mick and Ruthann were married just shy of 53 years. Together they had four girls. Nesha was born on October 9, 1972, Tonya was born on June 29, 1974, Sheena was born on May 15, 1976 and Shalana was born on April 26, 1978.

Mick loved being in the outdoors and was a jack of all trades so he worked hard and taught himself how to build a cabin. His cabin was his favorite place in the world. He spent many weekends there building swing sets, playhouses, four wheeler trails and a zipline for his family.
After battling Hodgkins Lymphoma, at the age of 35, Mick was determined to live life to the fullest. Almost every weekend he and his wife would pack up their four daughters and head out on an adventure. These adventures included many weekends at the cabin, Lake Powell, trips in the motor home, riding four wheelers, snow skiing and riding snow mobiles.
During Mick's 78 years he battled Hogkins Lyphoma, lung cancer, Leukemia, asthma, 3 heart attacks and a triple bypass. He fought each with courage, determination and a "never give up" attitude.

After retiring from 55 years of doing upholstery, Mick bought his Razor and loved to spend time at Bryce Canyon and Moab with his children and grandchildren. Mick and Ruthann have 18 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids, who they adore and their grandkids adore them.
Mick is a hero to his wife, children and grandchildren. He taught them all how to work hard and play hard. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knows him.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Jeff Allred. He leaves behind his wife Ruthann Allred and his daughters Nesha Thomas (Jason), Tonya Eggett (Rich), Sheena Brown, Shalana Lowder (Matt), 18 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids. He is also survived by his brothers Tim Allred and Neil Allred and his sister Jetta Marie Rasmussen.

Mick's Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Lehi Central Stake Center located at 200 North Center St. in Lehi. The viewing will start at 9:30 am followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. Mick will be buried at the Lehi Cemetery.
