Morgan John Evans, 86, of Lehi, Utah, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in his home in Ogden. Morgan left the world as he lived it: surrounded by family, who were with him in person or in spirit as he completed a life well lived.

Born on September 12, 1937, to Ruel and Beulah Evans in Lehi, Morgan was the fourth of five children. His childhood was spent with loving parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Morgan especially enjoyed spending time on the farm with his father. A sportsman through high school, Morgan graduated from Lehi High in 1955. He went on to study math at Utah State University, where he took up golf, a lifetime passion, before transferring to Brigham Young University two years later, graduating in 1959. Morgan also completed post graduate study and graduated from the American Bankers Association

Morgan began his career at Hercules where he worked with many close friends. He moved to First Security Bank in the early 1960s. There, he enjoyed a long and cherished career. Starting as a coder, Morgan went on to serve as Chief Financial Officer as well as President and Chief Administrator Officer. He served as Director and Chairman of the Plus System Inc. automated teller system and served on numerous boards, including First Security Bank of Utah, First Security Bank of Idaho, and First Security Bank of Rock Springs, Wyoming. Morgan established strong relationships as a leader, retiring in 2000 to spend his later years enjoying his favorite past times: golf, cards, baseball, and family.

In 1957, Morgan married the love of his life, Charlyn Thorne, whom he met during high school on a blind date. Morgan and Charlyn were married in the Logan temple. Morgan is survived by his loving wife and their four children along with their families: Lesa and her spouse, David; Russell and his spouse, Penny; Madelyn; and Malayna. Morgan took great pride in his eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

We will honor Morgan's life with a funeral held on Wednesday, June 5, at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main Street in Lehi. The viewing will begin at 10 AM and a service will follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will be held in the Lehi City Cemetery after the service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Primary Children's Hospital, Morgan and Charlyn's charity of choice, would be greatly appreciated.

Morgan will be remembered by friends and family for his generosity, his unflagging interest in the people he loved, his proven leadership qualities, the trusted advice he shared generously, and his very smart card play. He will be missed.
