Myrna Richardson Condie was born in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on February 4, 1947. She was the fourth child out of 10 children. She had a fun childhood riding bikes and playing with her siblings and cousins, but would get out of breath easily. Myrna's parents were told at birth that she would not live very long since she had congenital heart defects. She was one of the first patients in the world to receive a pediatric open-heart surgery using the heart-lung machine. This operation was done by President Russell M. Nelson when she was 12 years old. It saved her life and allowed her to enjoy the teenage years, including being in a Hollywood movie at age 16 with Henry Fonda and James MacArthur.

Myrna met her husband, Gary, at Utah State University, and they were married on June 8, 1967. They then transferred to BYU, had one daughter, and moved to California. Myrna later finished her bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge in clothing and textiles. She taught advanced sewing, textile science, and fashion design for the American College, Santa Monica Community College, and the LA Unified School District. She enjoyed sewing custom wedding dresses and doing alterations for friends and family. She also worked in the costume department at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA sewing costumes for plays. She is well-known for her community service in the Santa Clarita Valley, CA and for being the California Mother of the Year in 2009 for American Mother's, Inc.

Myrna had several callings in the church and especially enjoyed ministering and compassionate service. She found joy serving others and bringing dinners to people needing help. She also loved her many callings working with children in Primary and in Scouts. Myrna and Gary had several foster children over the years, with whom they have stayed in contact. Their home always had an open door to those who were alone or needed a place to live.

Myrna moved to Utah in 2021 after her husband, Gary, passed away, to be near many family members. Modern medicine continued to give Myrna a good quality of life. She lived to be 78, after having 3 open-heart surgeries and 9 pacemaker surgeries. The most recent surgery was in August 2021. She loved being with family and was able to enjoy many good times with siblings, in-laws, children, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren in her last few years.

Myrna passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2025 at American Fork Hospital, surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary, who passed away in 2020, 2 brothers, and sisters-in-law. She is survived by sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers, brothers-in-law, many cousins, nieces, nephews, a daughter, son-in-law, 3 grandchildren, and several foster children.

We love our sweet mother and grandmother and cherish our memories and the time we had with her. We would like to thank all of her dear friends and neighbors who reached out to her through the years and Aspen Ridge Residences in Lehi for helping her the last 3 months.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 3pm.
