In the peaceful morning hours of Christmas Day, Our beautiful and wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was reunited with her eternal sweetheart and many loved ones in heaven.
Nancy Lee Thomas Ferrell, 87, returned to her heavenly home on December 25, 2021. In her last hours of life on earth, she was surrounded by the love of her family.
Nancy was born on October 13, 1934 in Seattle Washington. A beautiful baby girl, she was adopted by Albert Eli Thomas & Rena Mae Martinson Thomas. It was many years before Nancy came to know her birth family.
Nancy spent most of her young life growing up near Seattle, Washington and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952. She was a superior athlete and was fast enough in track that she was encouraged to try out for the Olympic games, however she opted not to. Not only could she run like the wind, she was stunning in ballroom gowns!
Although stated otherwise on the birth certificate she had, Mom celebrated her birthday on October 19th. She was able to obtain a copy of her original birth certificate that stated her actual birth date was, indeed, October 19th. She shared this special day with her grandchildren, Brynn & Matthon.
At the age of 23, Nancy was converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through truly miraculous circumstances. Not long after her conversion and baptism, Nancy met her eternal companion, and sweetheart, Richard Melvin Ferrell. Without a doubt, their paths were meant to intertwine!
Richard was over the moon for Nancy, and she fell for his charm and his teasing, twinkling eyes. The two were married and sealed in the Logan Utah Temple on September 23, 1958 and spent 60 wonderful years together. What a beautiful, sweet reunion it was on Christmas morning, to be reunited together with her eternal sweetheart, Richard Ferrell.
Nancy's lifelong dream was to be a mother and with that, declared that she wanted to have a baseball team! She was determined to make that dream come true with the addition of Sean & Jay as the caboose of the family with Tim, Tad, Garth, Brad, Andrena, and Mike. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved watching them grow and always loved when the children came to visit.
Nancy was gracious, kind, dedicated and talented. She liked to draw, paint, crochet, knit, play the piano, and sing with her beautiful voice. One of mom's favorite indulgences in life was her beloved Diet Coke! She always had one close by, just in case.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nancy served in many callings. One of her most cherished callings was serving as a Temple Ordinance Worker and temple organist.
Together, Richard and Nancy served a mission in Peoria, Illinois, where they were able to serve during the open house and dedication of the Nauvoo Temple, a highlight of their mission.
From gold mining in Idaho and fishing the Clark's Fork to summers spent at Fish Lake and camp hosting at Timpooneke… No matter what new adventure Dad had planned, Mom was always willing to be by his side.
Nancy Lee Thomas Ferrell is survived by six sons and one daughter: Tim, Garth (Jan), Brad (Angie), Andrena (Don) Marchant, Mike (Sandy), Sean (Tara), Jay (Tiffany), 26 Grandchildren, 74 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Richard Ferrell, a baby son, Tad, and grandson, Matthew Ferrell.
Thank you to Beehive Homes staff lead by Carrie Brown, and nurses Janée Roper and Marianne Sivert, for their loving care for mom. Our hearts will forever be grateful for their wonderful service as her caretakers.
A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 am on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Wing Mortuary in Lehi, Utah. Followed by a service to honor the life of Nancy Lee Thomas Ferrell at 11:00am, to be held in the chapel at Wing Mortuary. Interment will be at Lehi City Cemetery following the service.
