Paula Marie
Higgs Cloward
May 21, 1957 — Jun 1, 2022
Paula Marie Ludvigson Higgs Cloward was called back to her heavenly home on June 1, 2022. She passed peacefully with her husband by her side. Paula left behind a legacy of strength, determination, and endurance. She shined with the light of Christ from the sunshine in her soul.
Paula was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 21, 1957 to Clinton and Lenora Ludvigson. She had four older brothers, Kirby, Terry, Gary, and one younger sister, Cathy.
Paula married Scott Brent Higgs January 24, 1974 and lived in West Jordan, Utah. From that marriage came 2 wonderful daughters, Christian Amy who passed away when she 3 days old, and Courtney Allison who passed away in 2006. Paula was a loving devoted mother and a domestic diva. While raising her children, her kitchen was full of homemade treats, cakes, cookies, canned fruit and wonderful dinners. She was a beautiful seamstress and made many outfits for herself, as well as her daughters. Her homes were always clean and beautifully decorated, and she always had a knack for making the details so pretty. Her children and grandchildren brought her so much joy and she supported them unconditionally with love in all they have done.
Scott and Paula moved to Delta, Utah in 1984 and then to Hinckley in 1987. Paula started work at the Delta South Elementary school as a teacher's aide and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education graduating Magna Cum Laude from Southern Utah University. Sadly, her husband Scott passed away in the summer of 1995.
Paula met Ken Cloward in December of 1995 and fell in love. Ken and Paula married in February of 1996. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mt Timpanogas Temple in 1999. Ken and Paula lived in Hinkley, Utah while Paula taught at Delta South Elementary and continued her education earning her Library Media certification in 1998 from Utah State University. In the spring of 2001, Ken and Paula moved to Lehi, Utah and Paula began teaching at Pleasant Grove Jr High as the Library Media specialist. Paula loved working in the library and teaching the many kids that came through the library every day. Paula made sure that the library was a safe haven for the students and a place where the kids wanted to be. Paula worked at Pleasant Grove Jr High for 19 years and retired from teaching in May of 2020 with having 32 years in the teaching profession.
Paula had something special and someone who was able to radiate light, love, and encouragement to everyone who knew her. She is truly a daughter of God and brilliantly lived as Christ taught. She was never one to judge and always looked beyond the surface with her tender loving heart. She lit up the room with her bright smile and a twinkle in her eye. She inspired people to chase their dreams and learn from their failures, in her words "it's all good". Paula will not be forgotten and her compassion for others will forever remained unmatched.
Paula is survived by her husband Ken, step son Jeff (Krista)Cloward, step daughter Jamie (Jonny) Thatcher, son in law Sammy (Tricia) Lovato, Eight grandchildren, one great grandson and siblings Terry(Sharon) Ludvigson, Cathy(Brian) Reed along with many nieces and nephews.
