Phillip Duane Black, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his home in Eagle Mountain, Utah on April 24, 2025 at the age of 92.

Phillip was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 1, 1933. As a child, he lived with various foster families throughout Sanpete and Sevier County. He married Alice Maxine Jensen on July 14, 1952 in the Manti Utah Temple. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, where he spent time in Germany with an armored battalion. Phillip worked as a lineman for thirty-three years, starting at Mountain Bell and later for the Federal Government where he set up communication systems on military bases throughout the country. He also served as the judge for the Lehi City Justice Court for thirteen years. Phillip was passionate about horses and rodeo and was a rider for the Lehi Cattlemen's Association.

Phillip possessed all the grit and toughness of a cowboy while endlessly serving his family and community with tenderness and compassion. He was a true cowboy to the end.

Phillip was preceded in death by his daughter, Madge Black Neel, his granddaughters, Meagan Thompson Robbins and Alex Jessie Thompson, and son-in-law, Ric Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Maxine Black, son, Wayne (Alison) Black, Moses Lake, Washington, daughter, Angie Black Thompson Lewis (Stan), Lehi, Utah, son-in-law, Asa Dwight "Danny" Neel, Lehi, Utah, and sister, Dallas Lorain, Tacoma, Washington. His legacy is proudly carried on by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 11:00am at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main in Lehi, Utah. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral services from 10:00-11:00am, also at Wing Mortuary. Interment will be at Lehi City Cemetery.
