Obituary

Robert William Kirkham age 85 passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025 in Saratoga Springs, Utah.  He was born August 24, 1939 in Lehi, Utah.  He was the first born twin, followed by his brother Richard, to William Leon Kirkham and Violet Florence Robbins.  He was born into a large family with eight children. He grew up on the family farm where he learned the principle of hard work.  He had a paper route and worked for Wathen's shoe shop as a young teen.  He participated in high school sports excelling in wrestling, where he was a state champion and was voted outstanding wrestler. He graduated from Lehi High School in 1957.

He developed a love for rodeo after secretively riding the family milk cow.  He participated in bull riding, bareback, calf roping and wild cow milking.  He also had a love for the outdoors and in his early teens he built a boat that led to a life changing experience at the age of 17 on Utah Lake where he received his powerful testimony of prayer.  He served for eight years in the Utah National Guard 1457 Engineer Unit, where he received the sharp shooter award.  In 1959 he founded Kirkham Upholstery where he served the community proudly with his excellent craftsmanship.


Robert married his sweetheart Glenda Mae Johnson, June 30, 1960 in the Manti Utah Temple.  They were blessed with four children. After Glenda passed away in 2009, he worked at the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork Utah.  While working in the baptistry he met and later married JoAnn Stewart Lewis, December 28, 2012. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully.  He was called to serve a mission at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.


He is survived by his children -  Clayton W. (Julie) Kirkham, Farr West; Kristi Kirkham Allen, Lehi;  Sheri (Blake) Probst, Sweet, Idaho; Chase (Shauna) Kirkham, Saratoga Springs; 11 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren; He is also survived by his siblings Richard, Norman, Linda, and Margie.


Robert was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Violet, spouses Glenda and JoAnn, grandchildren Brooke and Brant Probst, siblings Melvin, Connie, and Leona.


Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Lehi 1st Ward Chapel, 220 W. 200 S. Lehi, UT.  There will be a viewing prior from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery
