ROBERT KAY WALTON

(October 16, 1954 - August 1, 2026)

Robert Kay Walton passed away Saturday August 1, 2026 at American Fork Utah Hospital, surrounded by his family after fighting many years of health Issues.

Robert was born in American Fork, Utah on October 16, 1954 to Kenneth Kaylor Walton and Diane Maybelle Walker. He was the oldest of 4 children.

Robert graduated from American Fork High School and then served a full time mission in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While serving Robert still found a way to go to livestock auctions while on his mission. On “p” days the companions would have to draw straws on who went to the auctions with Robbie since he could not go alone. He was not missing his auctions. During the two years of his mission he met Janice Marie James. She moved to Utah a few years after Robbie got home from his mission and eventually they were married in the Provo LDS Temple on February 4, 1977.

Robert grew up loving the Meat business and would work and learn alongside his Grandpa Jack Walker. He taught Robert all he knew from raising livestock, to the business of running a Meat packing business, and buying livestock at the Livestock Auctions. Robert started his own meat business in 1979 and then was able to buy his Dream business and own his own Meat Packing Plant in 1991 known as, “Robert Walton Meats” located in Springville, Utah. With the help of his wife Janice, brother Craig Walton, and sons Shawn Walton and Jason Walton. They have been able to run a successful business providing meat for local stores in the Utah area. The business is now operated by Robert’s sons Shawn and Jason to this day. Robert has truly left a legacy in the Meat Business.

Robert and Jancie made their home in Lehi, UT where they were blessed with four children, Shawn (Paige) Walton, Jason (Tiffany) Walton, Stacy (Lorenzo) Sorenson and Jenny Arnbrister. They taught their children how to work hard and fight for the things in life you strive for. Every year or other year Robert and Janice would make a trip back to Louisiana to see family. It was always a 3 day drive for our family. While making the drive to Louisanna my dad and mom would arrange the trip to hit every Livestock auction in any city we drove through. Which made our trip very drawn out. It was my dad’s passion and as kids we enjoyed doing this with him.

Later in life they had ten grandchildren who they loved dearly. Brayden Walton, Riley Walton, Jake Walton, Kinzlee Walton, Madelyn Sorenson, Marissa Sorenson, Logan Arnbrister, Landon Walton, Samantha Sorenson and Savannah Sorenson.

Robert was the Friendliest guy out there. He would do anything for a laugh. He loved his Livestock Auctions and would watch as many as he could either in person or online. He found complete joy in watching these auctions. He truly loved the cattle life and taught his kids and grandkids to love it as well.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Janice James Walton, and his parents Kenneth and Diane Walton.

Robert is survived by his four children and his siblings Craig Walton, Jill Morgan and Sue Brown.

We would like to give a Big thank you to our Sister Jenny Arnbrister (Daughter) who was the main care giver to our dad. She went above and beyond to make sure he had what he needed and took him where he needed to be. A Thank you to Saratoga View Senior Living and their staff that gave Robert a home for the past few months. Also American Fork ICU staff for making our dad comfortable during his last few hours of life.

All Family and Friends are welcome to attend a viewing in his honor…

Viewing will be held Friday, August 7, 2026 at Wing Mortuary, 118 E Main St. Lehi, Utah from 6-8pm. On Saturday, August 8, 2026 a viewing from 10-11AM and a funeral to follow at 11am at Wing Mortuary for close family and friends. Following services we will proceed to the Lehi Cemetery for a small Graveside Service.
