Robert Warren Yates, known to many as "Bob," passed away peacefully at his home in Saratoga

Springs on the 23rd of March, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on

June 28, 1940 to Max and Dorothy Yates, the first of two sons. Bob was known for his big heart,

quick wit, patriotism, his friendly nature, and his love for Jesus Christ.

Bob grew up on Knox Street in Los Angeles County. He attended Allesandro Elementary School,

Washington Irving Junior High School, and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1959.

He loved dancing, basketball, and socializing. He was on the Al Jarvis Show with his best friend,

Henry Rodriquez, where he was able to show off his impressive dancing skills on live television.

Following high school, Bob successfully completed the plumbing program at Los Angeles

Trade-Technical Junior College and worked for the city and county of Los Angeles as a plumber

for over 40 years until his retirement in 2006. He also taught plumbing at Caltech for 16 years.

One of the highlights of his career was working alongside his father, Max, to do the plumbing for

the North Hollywood Stake Center.

Bob was married to Joan Yakovich from 1962 to 1997. While living in Sun Valley, CA, they began

raising their five children, a journey that continued after their move to Burbank in 1972. Bob

was a loving and involved father. He was quick to change a diaper, read a story or play a game

with his kids. He was always there to lend a helping hand and a listening ear. He coached many

of his children's sports teams, including baseball, softball, and basketball. Bob was a very

passionate coach and may or may not have been ejected from some of the games.

Bob was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He

served diligently in every calling he was given. He was a natural missionary and loved sharing his

faith with others. He served as a stake missionary and helped bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to

a number of families.

Bob was a hard worker and sacrificed to provide for his family. He was fun, friendly and had a

zest for life. Bob did not have a filter and was known for his ability to talk to anyone, frequently

making friends with strangers. His family was his priority and our favorite family vacation was

camping at Carpinteria State Beach every summer, a tradition that lasted for over 30 years. Bob

loved the beach!

Bob was an avid and skilled tennis player. He facilitated many tennis tournaments for the North

Hollywood Stake and enjoyed competing. He played tennis three times a week until he was 75

Years old. Bob passed on his athleticism, excellent dancing abilities and competitive spirit to all

of his five children.Bob met his wife, Maria Odilia, at a church dance. They dated for six months and were married

on October 1, 2009. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 7, 2015. Bob and

Maria took care of Bob's mother, Dorothy, for 8 years before moving to Saratoga Springs, Utah

where he lived until his passing. They enjoyed 16 wonderful years together, dancing, traveling,

and laughing together.

Bob is survived by his wife Maria Odilia Yates, his children Robin, David, Lori (Bryan), and

Melinda, the memory of his daughter Deanna (who preceded him in death), his three step

children, Rene, Carlos (Bessy), Karen (Patrick), his mother-in-law Maria, his brother Jerry, 13

grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 4th in the chapel at 2256 N Providence

Drive in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing prior to the service

from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will take place in the Lehi Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
