Obituary

Roberta Mariam Beal Peterson, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 surrounded by her family. Roberta was born March 11, 1935 in Tacoma, Washington to Robert Clayton Beal and Harriet Mariam Strom Beal.

After graduating from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, she met her sweetheart Charles Lyle Peterson "Pete" while he was in the army, stationed in Washington. They were married in the Logan Temple on December 8, 1955. Roberta's life was the happiest when she spent time with her beloved children and family, whom she adored. She and Pete loved to travel across the United States. After his passing, she was able to travel internationally and see the world. Her most treasured trip was to Norway to see where her grandmother grew up.

Roberta was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a great love for the Savior. She loved to attend the temple and found great joy serving there. She and Pete began serving in the Provo Temple in 1995 and they continued serving as workers in the Mount Timpanogos Temple when it opened. Roberta had numerous ward and stake callings through her life. Her most cherished callings involved music. She loved playing the organ for her ward, accompanying choirs, teaching others how to play the organ, and she especially loved playing the piano for the primary children.

Roberta is survived by her children: Sandra (Robert) Kidd, Beaver, OR; Mark (Debbie) Peterson, Henderson, NV; Lynette (Randy) Lish, American Fork, UT; Bart (Cori) Peterson, Tucson, AZ; Kris (Jaynalee) Peterson, Kaysville, UT; Kalynne (Bradley) Barlow, Coeur d'Alene, ID; and Kari (Loren) Shirk, Lehi, UT. She is also survived by her 30 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Lyle Peterson, her mother Harriet Mariam Strom Beal, and her father Robert Clayton Beal.

Many thanks to Valeo Hospice and Visiting Angels: especially Tiffany, Lisa, Camille, Michelle, Naomi, and Miriam for their loving and personalized care.
