Rodney Stan Earle passed away on August 16, 2021. He was born on September 8, 1943 in Brisbane, Australia to Stanley Albert & Margaret Thelma Jackson Earle. He was the fourth of five sons. He was the last surviving Earle boy.
He went to teacher's college in Brisbane, as well as BYU. He taught in Canada and Utah before returning to Australia. While living in Townsville, Australia, he met the missionaries and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He met Barbara Louise Onstott at church and proposed on the second date. They were married in Brisbane, Australia, on August 14, 1976. They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on July 6, 1978.

In 1978, Rodney and Barbara moved to Bloomington, Indiana while Rodney attended graduate school at Indiana University. In 1981, they moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and adopted their twin sons, Jonathan William and Jason Stanley. Two years later, Barbara surprised Rodney with the pregnancy of their daughter, Rebecca Lynn. While in Wilmington, Rodney taught at UNCW and served as Stake President of the Wilmington Stake.

In 1993, Rodney was offered a teaching job at BYU and the family moved to American Fork, Utah. Another move took the family to Lehi, Utah. He taught at BYU in the Elementary Education Department until 2010 when he retired.
During retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking trips with Barbara. In 2013, he started having dialysis multiples times a week. This limited his ability to have as many adventures, but he still managed. He enjoyed trips with his family to Palisades State Park, San Diego & Wilmington.

Rodney loved his family dearly. He couldn't always return to Australia as often as he liked, but he enjoyed calling his brothers/sisters-in-law and following their children on Facebook. Rodney loved playing card games and reading. He always had multiple books in his reading pile. Rodney loved to serve. He served as stake president, scout leader, MTC branch president, Sunday school teacher and other callings. As he got older, he found it more difficult to serve, but he always found a way (even if it was just a phone call).

He is survived by his children, Jonathan (Cara Dahl), Jason & Rebecca, and his 6 grandchildren (Ethan, Kesly, Devin, Emily, Bailey & Daniel).

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 12:00 Noon in the Lehi 8th Ward Chapel, 127 East 3200 North, Lehi, Utah.  A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 AM prior to the service at the church.  Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to either the Utah Food Bank or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Rodney's name.
