Ronald Victor Smith was born August 31, 1936, in Lehi, Utah, to Victor Webb and Deon Carter Smith. He passed away at his home on April 23, 2025 from pulmonary fibrosis.

Ron was a proud fourth-generation resident of Lehi. His great-grandfather was the town's first blacksmith when Lehi was still called Dry Creek. He spent his childhood in the area known as the "Fourth Ward", growing up alongside his five siblings in a close-knit community. Ron had a deep reverence for history and heritage, and a strong sense of the importance of place.

He graduated from Lehi High School in 1954 and attended Brigham Young University before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Hawaiian Islands. Afterward, and for the rest of his life, three places held special meaning for him: Lehi, Ophir, and Hawaii.

Following his mission, Ron went back to BYU where he met the love of his life: Kaye Passey. They were married on November 22, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple. It wasn't long before they moved to Lehi where they raised eight children – six boys and two girls – on the family farm.

Ron taught driver's education in Granite School District for 33 years. He also worked nights and summers to provide for his growing family and spent weekends farming and serving in his church. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ron faithfully served in many callings throughout his life, including as Bishop of the Lehi 11th Ward, a Stake High Councilor, a Branch President at the Provo Missionary Training Center, and as a temple worker at the Mount Timpanogos Temple. He was also a passionate supporter of Scouting and was honored with several awards, including the Silver Beaver. He took great pride in telling people that all six of his sons are Eagle Scouts.

Ron believed deeply in community service and was involved with Lehi City throughout his life. He served on the Lehi City Planning Commission, City Council, and was appointed Mayor in 1992. He also served on numerous local committees and boards, including the Rodeo Committee for 28 years. He was honored as Grand Marshal of the Lehi Roundup in 2023. He continued working with the Lehi Historical Society and Lehi Metropolitan Water Board until late 2024. His public service was grounded in a simple belief: "A person should first and foremost serve their family, second serve their church, and third serve their community."

After losing his sweet wife to Lewy Body Dementia in 2016, Ron found companionship and comfort in a childhood friend, Lois Littleford, who had also recently lost her spouse. Ron and Lois could often be seen together around town at city events, local restaurants, funerals, and high school plays. He referred to her as his "lady friend," and she kept him smiling, active, and enjoying a vibrant social life until the end.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kaye; his granddaughter Samantha; and his sisters, Lurae Ault and Uvonna Varney.

He is survived by his sons: Todd (Lara), Kirk (Donna), Kyle (Bonnie), Matt (Dominique), Adam (Cheryl), and Troy; his daughters: Tami (Mike) Russon and Sue (Greg) Jackson; 28 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren (2 more on the way); his siblings: Furlann Olsen, Craig Smith, and Vicki Whittemore; and his dear companion and friend, Lois Littleford.

Funeral services will be held on May 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS East Bench Building at 1631 E. 900 N., Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held on May 2 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the same location, and again on May 3 from 9:30  - 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Lehi City Cemetery.
