Rose Marie Ferrell Smith passed away on a beautiful Sabbath morning, February 13, 2022, surrounded by her devoted and loving children, just in time to spend Valentine's Day with her sweetheart.

Rose was born on a beautiful spring day on May 5, 1931 in Wenatchee, Washington to James Anthon and Almira Oliver Ferrell. She had one older brother, Jay, and was later joined by Richard, Ruth, Sharon, Cheryl and JoAnn. She had a wonderful loving relationship with her brothers and sisters, and was a tremendous influence on them as they spent time with her and Grant in their home.

Because Rose grew up on a farm, she learned to work hard, hoeing and harvesting crops. But her favorite place was in the home, where she blessed the lives of her family. At a very young age she even drove her mother into town to shop. She remembered having many wonderful spiritual experiences growing up.

After buying and selling many farms, her family finally settled in Lehi, March of 1947 at the Saratoga Ranch. It was here, at Lehi High School, that she met the love of her life. She married Grant Bringhurst Smith in the Salt Lake Temple on June 8, 1949. They moved into Grant's childhood home where they lived their entire marriage. Living next to the Lehi Rodeo grounds, they hosted annual get togethers with friends and family and the memories of those will always be cherished. Rose also loved designing and building floats for the Lehi Roundup Miniature Parades, winning may awards.

Grant and Rose had a wonderful group of friends that they met with monthly for over 65 years. This was a big part of their lives and they have many beloved life-long memories.
Rose loved shopping trips and going out to lunch with family and friends. She was a skilled seamstress, sewing many beautiful dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. Later in life, she enjoyed making porcelain dolls and designing and making their clothes. These dolls are treasured keepsakes for many. She also loved to read, play golf, snowmobile, boat, stay at their mountain cabin above Mount Pleasant and in their home in St. George. Grant and Rose loved to travel and go on cruises, and often went with friends, the Soil Conservation Group, and family.

Rose loved her Heavenly Father. She served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Stake Mutual, and Relief Society. She served as Ward Primary President, Relief Society President, and taught Primary and Sunday School. She and Grant shared their talent and love of dance as the dance directors for the ward Mutual Improvement Association.
True to her name, she loved planting and caring for roses and many other plants to beautify her home and yard.

Rose has 4 children. Carey (Diane), Julie Chamberlain (Ken), Jim (Dena), Laurie Jo Berry (Woody). They also have 22 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is now having a wonderful reunion with her husband Grant, her parents, her brothers Jay and Richard, her sister Sharon Bartleson, a great granddaughter McKinley Smith and a great grandson Kazen Black. She leaves behind her sisters; Ruth Goller, Cheryl Hicken, and JoAnn Leibel.

Rose spent the last season of her life at Covington Senior Living. The family appreciates the loving care that she received there as well as from those with Bristol Hospice.
The services for Rose will be held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 200 West 200 South, Lehi, Utah. The viewings will be held on Sunday evening, February 20, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Rose's celebration of life will be held Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
