Roy John (RJ) Slater was born in Lehi, Utah on December 20, 1931 to Samuel Alroy and Alice Wright Slater.

He married Lorena Abbott in the Logan Temple on August 31, 1950, and together they had 5 children— Kathy, Ann, Kevin, Alison, and Kirk.

RJ was a hard worker who loved horses, hunting, fishing, fossil hunting, candy-making, and delivering homemade food to his family, friends, and neighbors. He'll be remembered every time we make his mustard dressing, baked beans, almond popcorn, pickled beets, oatmeal raisin cookies, or divinity candy.

Roy is preceded in death by his wife Lorena, his son Kevin, his daughter Kathy, and his siblings June and Merrill. He is survived by his children Ann Mair (Dusty Roitz), Alison (Jay) Sisson, and Kirk (Nikki) Slater, his 18 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main Street in Lehi on Sunday, 15 December from 6-8pm. A funeral will be held on Monday, 16 December at 11am with a viewing 1 hour prior at the chapel located at 65 West 800 South in Mona, Utah.
