Russell Arthur Latimer passed away peacefully June 4, 2025. Russell was born on February 19, 1926, to Jasper and Maude Latimer. He grew up in a loving home alongside his siblings Phyllis, Afton, and Don.
Russell graduated from Granite High School on May 14, 1943, and shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. He served honorably during World War II.
On August 16, 1946 Russell married his eternal companion, Mildred Smart in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they built a home filled with faith, love, and laughter. They were blessed with six children: Jim, Jane, Tom, David, Patti, and Danny. Russell loved his family deeply and devoted his life to providing for and guiding them with kindness and quiet strength.
After his military service, Russell continued his education and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. He began his career working at International Harvester and later to Manage his own JCPenney store. Later, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening his own business, Coast to Coast hardware store in American Fork, Utah.
Russell was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently in various callings, including being a branch president, serving in the stake presidency and being an Early Morning seminary teacher.  For over 20 years, Russell worked in the baptistry along side his sweetheart at the Mount Timpanogos Temple. His temple service was a sacred part of his life and a reflection of his deep devotion to the Savior and the gospel.
Outside of work and church responsibilities, Russell found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid gardener who took pride in growing beautiful flowers and the tastiest vegetables.
He also loved to go fishing—especially with Mildred by his side. Their time spent outdoors together was a cherished tradition and a reflection of their deep companionship.
Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate nearly 100 years of life he shared with us. His example will continue to inspire his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew him. His legacy is one of faith, family, patience and service and it lives on in the hearts of all of us!
