Richard Shane Gaudio, known as Shane, was born on May 2, 1981, to Richard Louis Gaudio and Denise Lee Nielson, in American Fork. A steadfast and gentle soul, Shane passed away on May 19, 2023, at his home in Meridian, Idaho.

Shane spent his formative years in the rustic and rural Lehi, Utah. In 1999, he graduated from Lehi High School. It was there he found his lifelong friend and future wife, Lorraine Milner. In their Asian-themed costumes, they pledged their love for each other on December 29, 2006, in Lehi in the basement of Central Bank. Shane's world revolved around Lorraine; his every act mirrored his dedication, whether as a glorified unpaid employee in her pet-grooming business or supporting, encouraging, and helping her through her formal education. Together, they opened their hearts and home to foster youth and many pets. Shane's "heart dog" was Big Butter, an American Bulldog.

Shane's work life was as multifaceted as his personality. For over 22 years, he was a loyal part of the Coca-Cola family. Starting as a night crew worker in the warehouse, his diligence saw him advance to a forklift operator and eventually, a supply chain planner. This later role allowed him to work from his shared home office, where he often treated Lorraine to homemade oatmeal during work breaks.

Beyond work, Shane was a man of varied talents and interests. His flair for woodworking led him to create beautiful pieces for his own home and those of others. A budding enthusiast of bonsai cultivation, he meticulously crafted pots and propagated plants.

Shane played many games over the years, but his favorites included Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and EverQuest or playing card games with family and friends. Shane enjoyed reading and often suggested that others read his favorite book series "Wheel of Time" and anything by Brandon Sanderson. Shane played Dungeons and Dragons several times a week with friends online.

Shane had an appreciation for the cinematic and musical arts. He was an avid fan of Marvel movies and classic '90s sitcoms. Music found a special place in his heart and his playlists were in demand at family events. His desk was a shrine to his favorite animal - the rhinoceros, adorned with various rhino figurines.

Shane's passion for cooking came to the forefront during his favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. His culinary masterpieces, like his brine-soaked, spatchcock turkey and divine piecakin, were the talk of every Thanksgiving dinner. His chili and biscuits & gravy also made their way into the stomachs and hearts of many. Family boating trips to Bear Lake and memorable cruises to Mexico with Lorraine brought out his adventurous side.

Shane was an atheist who practiced the language of love, loyalty, and acceptance. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, acceptance, and the warmth of his unforgettable smile. Preceded in death by his parents and some loved dogs (Big, Aurora, and Little Buddy), he is survived by his wife, Lorraine, his brother Jason, his foster son, Zack, and pets, Squall and Olive.

A celebration of Shane's vibrant life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. -  1:00 p.m. at 50 West 500 North, Lehi, Utah. A brief program and open mic will begin at noon.  As Shane would have wanted, let's gather not to mourn but to celebrate his life - a life filled with laughter, love, and 'Better sorry than safe' adventures. Let's remember Shane as the man who touched lives, the man who was a friend to all, and who loved "with malice towards none." He was the favorite uncle, the kindest son-in-law, a gentle giant, and most importantly, a cherished husband and foster father.
