She was born in Lehi to Clarence Oscar Holmstead and Donnette Peterson Holmstead and lived in Lehi until after she was married. She grew up in a loving home with 2 brothers, Don 6 years older and Randy 10 years younger. She grew up on a farm close to Utah Lake and next door to the family of her double cousins. At Lehi High School she was a cheerleader and the Senior class Secretary. She contracted Polio at the age of 16, and was in an iron lung for a number of months, and was cared for by her parents to a full recovery with the exception of one leg being shorter than the other for the rest of her life.  Later in life she endured symptoms of post polio syndrome.  The medical staff warned her she may never walk again. But she was determined she would and obviously did. She never let it slow her down. This trait stood her in good stead her entire life.

She married Thomas "Alan" Walker August 20, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Lehi, Utah until 1957 and she worked as a bookkeeper for Geneva Steel. During that time they had 2 daughters, Allyn & Kerry. Then they were off to a new adventure in California where her husband had moved for work. During that time in California they had 2 boys, Scott & Stuart.  Alan was able to transfer back to Utah in 1961 and they bought a house in Midvale. Really glad to be back with family and friends, they also welcomed another daughter, Marian, into the family. They lived there for 38 years and made many lifelong friends.

Not long after they moved back to Utah Dad's work went on strike and it was longer than expected, so she took her bookkeeping skills and went back to work fulltime. She worked for the Southland (7-11) Corp. office in Salt Lake and then the Safeway main office and ended her career working for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the church office building.

Just before she retired she and Alan started to build a house in American Fork just 2 houses down from his parents house. It was on the property they had planted an orchard many years earlier. They moved to this house in 2000. She helped with the big garden, the orchard and canned all kinds of fruits and vegetables. She loved to bake and many were recipients of her breads, pies and cookies. She would host fantastic meals for friends and family and made countless meals for family, friends and ward members, who were experiencing challenges in their lives.  She also worked at the Timpanogos temple for a number of years in the baptistry. She was an active servant in God's kingdom, teaching Primary, working in the Relief Society, Ward Librarian and for a number of years in the Scouting program as den mother, committee chair and day camp chair.

She loved her family with all her heart and poured any time she wasn't working into them.

She is survived by her 5 children: Allyn Grosjean (Michael deceased), Kerry Done (Mike deceased), Scott (Liz), Stuart (Nga) and Marian Norton (Gerard) 18 grandchildren (1 deceased), 47 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, brother Randy Holmstead (Janean) and Sister-in-law Myrna. Predeceased by her brother Don Holmstead.
