Sharon Mills Bayles, passed away in the hospital on April 13, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on October 22, 1943, in Overton, Nevada, the sixth of seven children born to Lester Eugene Mills and Katherine Wells.

Sharon attended elementary school in Logandale Overton and graduated from Moapa Valley High School in 1961. Sharon was on the Xerosis yearbook staff and danced with the Debonettes.

Sharon attended Utah State University and it was during this time that she met Philip Bayles. Sharon and Phillip married and were blessed with three children: John (Kelleen (KeKe)), Katherine (Daniel), and Kristine (Jeff).

Sharon and Phil's lives took them to many places in the west due to Phil's work in the forest service, including Idaho City, Manila, and Escalante, Utah. It was in these places that Sharon learned and used many skills, like gardening, food preservation, and sewing.

After she moved back to the Logandale/Overton area, she worked in the local store and then spent 18 years working for the Moapa Valley Water District.

Sharon was a thoughtful and caring daughter. After her move back to Overton, she was focused on caring for her mother. For a time, they lived separately and Sharon would check in and visit almost daily. When her mother got to the point of needing more care, they sold their two homes and purchased a triple-wide mobile home in Overton on Alma Ave, where Sharon cared for her mother in her final years.

Sharon's joy was in her grandchildren. After her mother passed, Sharon decided that driving from Nevada to Lehi, Utah every few weeks was crazy. So she sold her home and informed Katherine and Dan that she was coming to stay, permanently. She lived 21 years with the family in the basement and helped out in many ways as the grandchildren grew up.

Sharon was a devoted and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings throughout her life, including Cub Scout Den Leader, Relief Society President, Ward Chorister, and Primary teacher. When both of her daughters living in Lehi were teaching Primary, Sharon would prepare the lesson materials for them.

Sharon is survived by her children, grandchildren: Shawna (Drake), Jordan, Kelly, Jonathan, Kristlynn, Brenton, Katelyn, Apollo, and Athena, and one great-grandchild Ethan. She is also survived by her siblings Marilyn (Claude), Gene (Chrie), and Steven (Kathy).

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Virginia who died as an infant; her brother Lamond and his wife Lynn, her brother Fred and his wife Donna, her sister-in-law Evelyn (Gene).

We'd like to thank the wonderful people at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo for the caring attention to Sharon in her final days.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 127 E 3200 N in Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held from 11:30 – 12:30. The funeral will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
