Susan L. Sterne of Highland, Utah passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the age of 86.

Sue was born on February 28, 1939, and raised in New Carlisle, Indiana. Growing up on Lake Michigan, she loved swimming and sailing. Always friendly and outgoing, Sue played french horn in her high school band, acted in theater productions and participated in the pep club and on the yearbook staff. She graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1957 and Indiana University, Bloomington in 1961 where she was a member of the Beta chapter of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

In addition to raising three children with her husband, Richard Sterne, Sue had a long and fulfilling career as a speech therapist. The family lived in Illinois, Idaho and Utah. Sue returned to Indiana to finish her career and pursue other interests including traveling with friends, attending concerts and theater productions, participating in IU alumni activities, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Sue spent her last years living in Highland, Utah surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her children, Jennifer Sterne Jensen (Stan Jensen), of Lehi, UT; Elizabeth Sterne McIver (John McIver), of Springville, UT; Mark Sterne, of Winter Park, CO; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. John E. Luzadder and Dorthy Dorland Luzadder; and her sister, Jane LaMaster. A public memorial service is not planned at this time.
