Tanner Merrill Cottrell, of Salt Lake City, died unexpectedly on January 3rd, 2025. He was only 27 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Tanner was born on January 13th, 1997, attended Polaris High, and lived in Salt Lake City for most of his life.

Everyone who knew Tanner knew how special he was. Tanner was full of life. Tanner had one of the softest and strongest hearts we knew. His smile would light up any room he walked into. He was a protector of everyone he loved. He enjoyed gardening, cars, traveling, spending time with his brother and spending time with his nieces and nephews, who he loved more than anything.

Tanner is survived by his parents, Natasha and his step father Ariel. His siblings, Macala (Elden), Tyson, Malyssa (Matthew), Monica. His nieces and nephews, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father John, his grandfather Russell, his uncle James, and his cousins Peter and Spencer.

He will be missed so much, by many who loved and cared about him. Until we meet again. We love you and will miss you.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 4588 North Eagle Mountain Blvd, Eagle Mountain, Utah.  A visitation will be held at the chapel on hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Pony Express Memorial Cemetery in Eagle Mountain, Utah.
