Thomas Douglas Peterson (1947-2022)

Our beloved Father, Son, Brother, Uncle & friend passed away on April 10, 2022 after a long struggle with cancer.

Thomas was born October 18,1947 to Douglas & Verda Peterson in Lehi, Utah. They later moved to Salt Lake City. He was not happy about the move! He had to leave his most favorite horse "patches". He would ride his bike from his home in Salt Lake to Aunt Ora's home in Lehi, on the weekends to see him. He had great fun with all of his cousins in Lehi. Clyde, Pierce & Dennis, just to name a few. They had great times and got into a lot of trouble together.

His first job was at Skyline Nurseries on Highland Drive, where at age 12 was making flower boxes. He then worked for Ken Sorensen as a brick hid at age 13. He played the clarinet in school, but didn't really like it. He was a cowboy at heart. He even named is 2nd son after Lucas McCain from the western series "The Rifleman". He also loved John Wayne. He was made fun of when he started school in Salt Lake, they would call him a country bumpkin, he hated that. He was just being himself.

Tom graduated from Granite High in 1965, he then joined the Utah National Guard. He did basic training in Fort Ord, California. He then went to Fort Eustis, Virginia where he trained to be a helicopter mechanic. He was honorably discharged March 28, 1972.

He then met his loving wife, Carol Ann Haws. They were married November 22, 1968. They lived in Murray and had their first child Trissa. They moved the American Fork and had Tamara and Matthew. They made their final move to Cedar Fort where they had five more children Rebecca, Luke, Malissa and awesome Jessica!

Mom and dad worked hard for years on their property, with lots of weekends with his parents cleaning it all out.

Mom and Dad we're devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They held many callings.

Dad drove truck for a living. He worked at US Welding, then ICI Explosive's and finally Air Liquid and had a perfect driving record. He hit his 2 million milestone, with no accidents. He retired in 2019 and devoted the rest of his time with mom and serving the lord. He loved the Savior and doing temple work. He became a temple ordinance worker which he loved. He taught Sunday School to the kids and adults. He had a very strong testimony and would share it often!

He loved water-skiing, which he was excellent at. He also loved snow skiing, camping, hunting, horseback riding and being with his family.

He lost the love of his life in 2020, and later the next year discovered he had cancer. He fought hard! 47 Chemo treatments and it was almost all gone. He was so happy and couldn't wait to get back to the temple. He wanted so much to be here for us. I guess god wanted him home. After a lengthy stay at the hospital and rehabilitation, he was finally able to come home. All his girls came and spent pretty much 24/7 caring for him. He suffered a lot, and was called home on April 10, 2022.

Tom is survived by his sister LaNett (Dave) Franchow of South Jordan, brother Kurt (Deanne) Peterson of Hurricane, Children: Trissa (Dusty) Swank of Lehi, Tamara Myers of Salt Lake, Rebecca (Chris) Chamberlain of Spanish Fork, Luke (Katie) Peterson of Nephi, Malissa (Bryce) Jensen of Eagle Mountain, Beth (Dan) Vincent of Eagle Mountain, Jessica Rizzuto of Herriman. Grandchildren: Hailey Swank, Cassie Kuck, Kayla Stokes, Elizabeth Myers, Chase Chamberlain, Joshua Chamberlain, Brodee Peterson, Quincy Jensen, Emily Jensen, Jeremy Spradling, Andrew Moody, Danielle Moody, Brooklynn Moody, Harley Rizzuto, Alexandria Rizzuto. Great-Grandchildren: Chaysen Kuck, Zanden Kuck, Haze Matthew Jewkes. Preceded in death by Parents Douglas and Verda Peterson, a son Matthew Thomas Peterson and wife Carol Peterson.

There will be a viewing Thursday, April 14th from 6-8 in the evening, at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi. Graveside service Friday, April 15th at 11:00 am, at the Cedar Fort Cemetery, 200 West 200 South.
