Thomas Gerald
Porter
Jan 8, 1952 — Apr 24, 2025
Thomas Gerald Porter, Sr., age 73, returned home to Heavenly Father on April 24, 2025, at
his home in Lehi, Utah. Born on January 8, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Gerald (Jack)
and Irene Porter. He was a rambunctious child with a huge heart. Tom lived a life rooted in
devotion—to his family, his faith, and the land he loved.
A proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tom dedicated much of
his life to service within his community. He served faithfully as a Scout Master and was
known for mentoring youth with patience and humor. His commitment to the values of his
faith was evident in every aspect of his life.
Tom worked as a delivery driver for over 20 years, where he was respected for his reliability
and strong work ethic. Beyond his professional life, he found joy in the simple pleasures—
gardening under the Utah sun, exploring the outdoors, collecting rocks and working with
wood. He had a special fondness for animals and took great pride in caring for Peter the
Pig.
He married the love of his life on April 14th, 1990, and together they built a family grounded
in love and laughter. Though preceded in death by his beloved wife Susan; his parents; and
brother Terry, Tom's legacy continues through those who survive him: daughters, Sarah
(Micah) Autry and Emily (Sean) White; son, Tom (Kayla) Porter; grandchildren, Aiden,
Brittany, Beau, Jacob, Allyssa, Tori, Caitlin, Kara, and Josh; two great-grandchildren;
brothers, Paul and John; sister, Susan (Scott) Perschon; as well as many nieces, nephews
and cherished friends.
Tom will be remembered for his generous spirit, quick wit as a joker among friends and
family, and unwavering dedication to those around him. Whether tending to his yard or
guiding youngsters through life's challenges, he gave freely of himself with warmth and
sincerity.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to his Lehi family and Utah Hospice for their
compassionate care through these last few months of his life.
May the memory of Thomas Gerald Porter bring comfort to all who knew him. A Memorial
Service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 465 West 700 South Lehi, UT. The Graveside Service will
be at the Lehi City Cemetery 1525 North 600 East Lehi, UT after the Memorial Service has
concluded.
