Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Tod W Spainhower, 59, passed away Tuesday, September 7th 2021 at his home in Lehi, Utah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Spainhower. He is survived by his father Bill Spainhower, his siblings David Spainhower (Tori Spainhower) and Teri Spainhower, his treasured wife Cindy Gundersen, and his two precious daughters Sjandi Marshall (Mike Marshall) and Shelby Sumner (Keaton Sumner), along with three grandchildren, Zoey (13), Miles (5), and Violet (9 months). Through his marriage, he was also blessed with bonus children and grandchildren. Cami Leonard (Andrew), Claire Johnson (Brandon), Eliza Watkins (Landon), Ethan Gundersen, Marcus Gundersen and the twin granddaughters Addiline and Charlotte (8), Amelia (1) and a grandson on the way.

Born on December 27th, 1961 in American Fork, Utah, to parents Pat Pierson and Bill Spainhower. Tod was born prematurely, weighing only 3 pounds. His parents were told he would only live a few years, but Tod grew to live a life full of love and joy.

Tod grew up in American Fork, Utah with his older brother Dave and little sister Teri.  After graduating from American Fork High School in 1980, he began working at Utah Refractories. He continued working there, eventually becoming Lead Manager, until the plant ultimately closed in 2020.

Tod's true passion, however, was in music. Wanting to be involved in the creation and sharing of music, Tod taught himself to be a light and sound technician, working at several different venues for countless bands and groups over the years where he met so many amazing friends. Known for his dependability and commitment to quality, he was sought after for dozens of other projects.

Tod worked at Utah's Haunted Forest for over 25 years. He was an invaluable asset to the Forest and worked tirelessly every fall to get it up and running and bring frights and laughter to the community. Tod was very patriotic and also worked many firework shows during the Fourth of July throughout the years. He loved to showcase his many talents and his strong work ethic and to share joy with others.

Everyone who has ever listened to him talk about his life knows that his pride, joy, and light were his two daughters. He loved them both so very much. Being a father was his favorite job. He raised his girls with immense love and concern, being a bright light in their difficult childhood. He worked tirelessly to make the lives of his daughters memorable and fun, taking care to be present for holidays and important events. To anyone who would listen, he would go on about their accomplishments and how excited he was for his daughters. Being a grandfather was almost a greater accomplishment for Tod. If anything could light up his face it was his grandchildren.

Though he had his girls, he was alone for a long time. Tod met Cindy in April of 2020, and was immediately head over heels for such a loving, kind, and sassy woman. They were engaged on Feb 14, 2021. He was so excited to start a new life with his darling love. They married June 25, 2021. His time with Cindy was the brightest and most joyous time of his life. Cindy gave him the love he desperately deserved, and he was the happiest anyone had ever seen him. She was his angel.

He will be missed dearly.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 12th, at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main in Lehi, Utah from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A second viewing will be on Monday, September 13th at 1364 West 1870 North in Lehi, Utah from 9:30am-10:30am, followed by funeral services at 11:00am in the same building. Tod will be interred at Midway City Cemetery, 600 West 500 South, Midway Utah.
