South Ogden – Our Beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather - Valdean Dale Hadfield, passed away at his home on Sunday May 10, 2026.  He was born at home on September 14, 1935, in Lehi Utah, the oldest child of Dale William and Elda Hadfield.

He married Luana Peterson, Jan 26, 1956. Their Marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. In January of this year they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a Ward Missionary, Bishopric Counselor, and  in many other callings over the years. He especially enjoyed mentoring his sons and many other young men, helping them to achieve their Eagle Scout Rank.

He started working for The Boeing Company in Tacoma, Washington then moved to Ogden accepting a position at Marquart Corp. doing machining for a few years. When Marquart Corp. moved to California, he became a General Contractor building many homes in the Ogden and Syracuse areas.  He finished his career working for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in building maintenance.

After retiring he spent his time helping with redocumenting the Pony Express Trail placing steel post markers along the trail. When he finished documenting and marking the pony express trail, he enjoyed working in his wood shop. He built beautiful benches, chests, rocking horses, boxes and other furniture. He also built his own Handcart so he could go on Trek and pull his handcart over Rocky Ridge in Wyoming, with the help of members of his trek company he enjoyed successfully completing that dream.  He loved his pioneer heritage.  He was incredibly talented working with wood. When he started a wood project he didn't  just make one item he had to times it by ten for each of his children.  Our family has been richly blessed by his willingness to share this talent.  Many times he shared his talents with other family and friends too.

Valdean loved his family very much. He was all about family outings like rock hunting, riding ATV's, camping and going on vacation. Always willing to help and give service, he was called upon by neighbors, friends and family for his expertise in so many areas.

Surviving are his wife and ten children: Lorie (Jay) Price, Kurt (Michelle) Hadfield, Dalon (Tammy) Hadfield, Garth (Connie) Hadfield, Janith (Mark) Jensen, Travis (Tara) Hadfield, Ladene (Scott) Travis, Hal (Lara) Hadfield, Wayne (Tressa) Hadfield, and Layne Hadfield, 27 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren. Three sisters Karen (Dan) Adams American Fork, Mary Pinkham (Santaquin), Amy (Johnny) Barnes Lehi. He is preceded in death by his parents Dale and Elda. two brothers, Carl, Eugene, and sister Heidi.

A Viewing will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 9-10 am with the funeral following at 10:30 am at the Burch Creek 3rd Ward, 5161 S 1300 E, South Ogden, UT  84403.  Services will also be streamed for friends and family unable to join in person.  Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery.  A short Graveside service will be held, 1100 North 400 East, Lehi, UT at 2:00 pm.
