Valdean Jon
Tingey
Dec 20, 1941 — Nov 19, 2025
Valdean (Val) Jon Tingey, 83, of Bluffdale, Utah, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025. He was born on December 20, 1941, in Lehi, Utah, to John H. Leland Tingey and Elva Muirbrook Tingey.
Val was born and raised in Lehi during the 1940s and was proud to be a Lehi High School graduate. He spent his life building, creating, and working hard—traits that defined him from a young age. Over the years, he owned and operated several successful businesses, including Tingey's Turf Farm, Tingey Construction, and T&T Construction. He continued working in excavation until his retirement at the age of 80, a testament to his strong work ethic and love of staying active.
A true sportsman at heart, Val found joy in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, gold mining, and working on old cars. He also enjoyed supporting local sports - sponsoring local community softball and basketball teams for many years. And, as a devoted Utah Jazz fan, he rarely missed a game and cheered on his team with enthusiasm.
Tall in stature and spirit, Val was instantly recognizable in his cowboy boots and cowboy hat—an image as big and welcoming as his personality. He loved engaging with everyone around him, always ready with a story, a joke, or a warm conversation that made people feel like longtime friends.
Val will be remembered for his generosity, his passion for the outdoors, his dedication to family, and his unwavering work ethic. His presence filled every room he walked into, and it's safe to say that no one will ever quite fill his boots!
Val is survived by his loving wife, Pam; his three children, Jon (Helen), Wayne (Marilee), and Toni (Brian); his much-loved stepchildren, Michael, and Tiffany (Cory); 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Darhl.
A viewing will be held on Monday, November 24, at Wing Mortuary in Lehi, Utah, followed by a short graveside service at the Lehi City Cemetery.
