Feb 20, 2003 — Aug 15, 2023
A live broadcast of the service will be found on Wing Mortuary's Facebook page as soon as the service begins.
Vanessa Martinez Wimmer (aka Nancy), 20, passed away on August 15, 2023, due to complications related to a lifelong battle with chronic kidney disease. Nancy fiercely lived life to the fullest and to her own cadence despite the limitations of her disease.
Nancy was born in Illinois but her parents moved when she was at a young age to the Salt Lake City, Utah area and she has lived in Sandy, Utah for the past eleven years. From birth and wherever Nancy went, her big sister, Jessi, was by her side. Their bond with each other has been incredible and although they faced many challenges at a young age, they always pulled each other through with lots of laughs, tears, smiles, and most of all, love.
Nancy graduated from Alta High School in 2021 and her inquisitive nature has led her to experience a variety of jobs and pursuits since her graduation. Nancy was creative and artistic and enjoyed sketching, drawing, and painting. She would make the most creative and unique creations. She found fun and laughter in almost anything, and was quick-witted with a clever sense of humor that brought smiles to those around her. She was an animal whisperer and she'd catch snakes, lizards and toads while camping. Her favorite animals were dogs, especially Penny and Bailey. She loved new adventures, seeing new places, fishing, campfires with s'mores, and exploring the mountains and Dimple Dell near her home. Trying new foods and restaurants and listening to all sorts of diverse music were a favorite pastime. She had a spark of wonderment and curiosity, and never lost the pure childhood excitement for new and exciting things. Nancy will be extremely missed.
Nancy grew up with many people who loved her and were honored to be called part of her family. She leaves behind her sister, Jessica Wimmer (Tama Wilson), father, Sam Wimmer, grandparents, Sheldon and Mary Wimmer and Mike and Annette McClure, foster family, Javier and Eva Prieto and children and grandchildren, biological parents, Enrique and Myra, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her beloved shepherd mix Bailey. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emily Wimmer, whom she deeply missed, and maltese poodle Penny.
Thank you to the countless doctors, nurses, medical staff, foster and social workers, and so many others who supported and helped Nancy live her best life.
A viewing will be held Saturday August 19, 2023, at Wing mortuary (118 East Main Street, Lehi) from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. After the funeral, a graveside service will be held at the Lehi City Cemetery.
