With dignity and grace, Verla H. Whitener, born August 11, 1944, passed away peacefully, May 19, 2025 at home, surrounded by family and friends.

She, as only Verla would, left this world on her own terms to join the arms of Jim again (finally). She left us knowing we will be okay without her, living the legacy she and Jim left behind. God speed, until we meet again.

She is survived by her son Ryan Duffin, daughter Karri Nielson, step-son Bryon Whitener, and step-daughter Pauline Coates. Thirteen grandkids and 27 great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews.

Verla is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Whitener, son Travis Duffin, great-granddaughter Maylie Dumas, both of her parents, and six siblings.

Her entire life was devoted to her family. She spent years raising her children, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verla worked full time, a couple jobs at a time to see that our needs were met. She and Jim together leave behind a legacy that cannot be matched.

Many thanks and appreciation to Hospice for Utah nurses, Sara, Jamie, Serina, and Juliette. Without you women, we would be lost.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 31, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Wing Mortuary 118 E Main Lehi, UT.
