Virgil Dan Holland left this mortal estate on October 5, 2024, surrounded by his wife and family.

Dan was born September 16, 1941, with his twin sister Virgie Ann Holland, to William Alan Holland and Dorothy Evadine Strong in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.

Dan grew up in Ponchatoula, Louisiana and loved the bayou activities he experienced with his father. He was passionate about track and basketball and was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz (which undoubtedly caused his heart more stress the last couple of seasons).

Dan graduated from Simsport High School in Simsport, Louisiana, and went on to serve and play basketball in the Air Force after graduation.

In 1962, Dan joined Janette Fenton with an eternal commitment and was sealed to her in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Dan and Janette made their first home in Zachary, Louisiana and in 1967, moved to Utah where he lived until his death.

Dan believed that hard, honest work was good for the soul. He worked as a welder, fitter, and General Foreman out of the Boilermakers Union. Even after retirement, he continued to work as a carpenter until his body wouldn't let him.

Dan gave his heart to the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in numerous callings, including Bishop and missionary in Port Harcourt, Nigeria with his sweet wife companion 2004-2006.

Dan also had a special love for temple and family history work. He researched and submitted thousands of names for vicarious ordinances.

Dan's family was his greatest joy and reason to live. He is survived by:

His loving wife, Janette Holland, and their children: Janet Paulson (Joey), David Holland (Marcey), Bryan (Bo) Holland (Donna), Danette Duncan (William), Kevin Holland (Amie), Jon Holland (Leesa), Brandon Holland (Lisa), Angela McCoy (Jason). In addition, his posterity includes 30 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and generations to come that will forever be grateful to him for his commitment and love for his family.

A viewing will be held Thursday, October 17th at the Lehi 23rd Ward Chapel from 6-8pm. Funeral will be held Friday, October 18th at noon, with a viewing from 11-11:45am. The Lehi 23rd Ward Chapel is located at 3200 North 650 East, Lehi, Utah.

Dan will be buried in the Lehi Cemetery.
