Vonda Boley Whitney, born on April 10, 1938, to Anna Lucille Benson and Vern Chipman Boley, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was surrounded by her devoted family in her final moments.

She was a lovely woman full of care and known for her sociable nature. As a child, she considered herself a 'tomboy' and proudly recalled the time she ate a live grasshopper. She loved pretending to be Tarzan, beating her chest and calling out just like he did on the radio program of the time.

As a teen, Vonda won the title of Miss American Fork and was a majorette in a marching band. She humorously recalled a time when she threw her baton in the air during a parade, and it landed on the band leader.

She married Leonard Lyall Green September 25, 1958. They were sealed as an eternal family with Todd, Jana and Curtis in 1982. Leonard died June 17,1985. She married Arvy L. Whitney on April 25, 1986. This union was solemnized in the Timpanogos Temple on April 12, 2018.

Vonda was a talented beautician. She had a passion for salads and enjoyed a variety of activities in her spare time, including skiing, hunting, off-roading, watching the jazz and murder mysteries, playing cards, and motorcycling. She was a proud member of the Temple Riders motorcycle gang. She loved animals, particularly birds which she kept occasionally and was unfortunately very allergic to. Her love of animals lasted a lifetime, and she dreamed of traveling to Africa—a dream she finally fulfilled in retirement with her husband.

Her life was marked by dedicated service to her family and her Church. She served as Relief Society President three times, Sunday School President twice, and held a leadership role in the temple presidency at the Jordan River Temple. Vonda and her husband served multiple missions together, including at the Church Office Building, in the California Santa Rosa Mission, the New Zealand Mission, and a few stake missions. Much like her love for salads, she was passionate about scripture study. Her children fondly recall her walking vigorously on the treadmill while studying the gospel.

Vonda is preceded in death by her mother Anna; her father Vern; her brother Kay; and her husband Leonard.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Arv Whitney; her son Todd Green (Laura); her daughter Jana Murray (Michael); son Curtis Green (Amy); stepchildren Guy (Sheri); Richard (Myriam); Peggy (Randall); Alisa (Jim); Teresa, Stephanie (Garcia); her sister Darlene Adams– also half siblings: and innumerable hosts of grandchildren and friends.

We will all deeply miss her, her stifado stew, peanut brittle, puffed rice balls, and her playful show of love– giving out endless energetic greetings, bum pats 'n pinches.
