Wesley Samuel Hadfield
Wesley Samuel Hadfield passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2026, at the age of 24. He was born November 8, 2001.
Wesley was the third of six children. He grew up in Utah and attended Foothill Elementary, Canyon View Junior High, and Maeser Preparatory Academy, where he played soccer. He also enjoyed jazz band, theater, performing, travel, and adventure. Wesley had an infectious personality and a natural ability to make people smile. He was known for his humor, gratitude, kindness, and love of people.
In August 2022, Wesley suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in an electric-longboard accident. His recovery spread to a worldwide community of family, friends, and supporters. Over the following four years, Wesley made remarkable progress. He returned to Utah Valley University, moved into his own apartment, and regained strong physical fitness and independence.
Wesley also became an advocate for helmet safety, sharing his experience in hopes of preventing others from suffering similar injuries. His story was featured by local and national news organizations and followed by thousands of people.
Wesley was tragically killed on August 10 after being struck by a vehicle in Orem while crossing the street after getting off a bus.
He is survived by his parents, Varden and Becky; his brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; extended family; and many friends who loved him dearly.
Wesley will be remembered for his infectious smile, humor, adventurous spirit, and genuine love for others. His family is grateful for the many people who supported Wesley throughout his journey and for the love shown to him over the past four years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Big Springs Park, 7201 N. South Fork Rd., Provo, UT 84604. There will be no viewing or graveside service.Please share memories, photos, and videos of Wesley at https://wesleyhadfield.com
