William Gay Powell

May 11, 1935 – November 17, 2021

After a quiet and courageous fight with Parkinson's disease, William Gay Powell slipped from this life into the ample and healing arms of his Heavenly Father and Savior. He was joyously welcomed home by all those who loved him and had gone before. He is mourned by many who love him here. He left a space that time and distance cannot fill.

How do you capture a life so well lived with mere words? As a businessman, he had a smile and friendly wave for all who walked through his doors. His service was always impeccable, and his kindness beyond compare. He shaped lives and touched hearts. His mighty faith nurtured souls and led us constantly along. Selfless to a fault, he put us first. His strong and gentle hands, forever guiding and blessing and lifting. His unshakable devotion to Jesus was evident in every action.

Though he had a commanding voice, he was a man of few words. He wasn't loud, but what he said spoke volumes. An eager student of the gospel of Jesus Christ, his ability to impart his wisdom with others came from a wealth of knowledge coupled with deep humility. He knew the answer to so many questions, and he loved and lived what he taught.

He is cherished by his wife and sweetheart, Kaye Peterson Powell, and his children Lori Christensen, Wendy (Mike) Ellison, Greg (Sheila) Powell, Brent (Jill) Powell, and Melynda (Valiant) Cummings. He is simply the best grandpa and pappy in the world to sixteen adoring grandchildren and seventeen great-grands, with one on the way.

Rest well beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and Friend. We will see you in the kindness of a stranger, the warmth of an embrace, and the cloud cover you loved. Your legacy burns bright in our hearts and in our faith. If you would like to pay tribute to him, please do something kind for someone else.
