William Michael “Bill” Ross passed away on August 27, 2026, in Lehi, Utah, one day before his 79th birthday.

Bill was born August 28, 1947, in Long Beach, California, to Walter Lee Ross and Dorothy Anna Ridste. He graduated from West Covina High School in 1965 and later served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission from 1966–1968.

While attending Brigham Young University, Bill met Diane Bowen. They were married on June 6, 1969, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple and shared 57 years together.

Bill lived a life filled with curiosity, adventure, service, hard work, and a deep love for his family. He had a lifelong passion for railroads, boats, water, gardening, home projects, and, of course, telling a good joke. He was also a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bill is survived by his wife, Diane; children Shauna (Brad) Young, Michael (Robyn) Ross, Kevin Ross, and daughter-in-law Amy Ross; fifteen grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee Ross and Dorothy Anna Ridste; siblings Diane, Walter, and Sharon; sons Jason and Scott; and grandsons Aidan, Daschel, and Quentin.

Bill will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.
